THANK YOU to Ashby Rider’s Lawn Care Services for coming to the rescue last week and helping Reva Volunteer Fire & Rescue break up the remaining ice in our station parking lot 🧊

It was slicker than a penguin in bowling shoes—but Ashby jumped in and made it safer for all those utilizing the building.

If you’re in need of lawn care services (or someone who’s not afraid to take on winter’s icy attitude), be sure to contact them and give them a follow!

On January 31st, Reva Volunteer Fire and Rescue was dispatched to a report of a vehicle down an embankment on Route 29 southbound.

Rescue Engine 16 responded with a Technical Rescue Technician (TRT) and arrived on scene to find a single vehicle that had gone down an embankment. Due to the patient’s condition and icy ground conditions, crews determined that a low-angle stokes basket evolution was the safest method for extrication.

Rescue Engine 16 established a 3:1 mechanical advantage haul system to assist rescuers in safely raising the patient up the embankment on a ladder while secured in a stokes basket, with assistance from the Culpeper County Office of Emergency Services.

Reva Volunteer Fire and Rescue is grateful to consist of multiple paramedics and TRT’s that respond on a daily basis.

On November 3rd, Reva Volunteer Fire and Rescue was dispatched for a report of a vehicle into a structure.

Rescue Engine 16 responded quickly, and upon receiving initial reports of possible entrapment, requested Company 1 for additional manpower and Rescue 2 for specialized equipment to perform structural stabilization using collapse struts.

Upon arrival, Rescue Engine 16 confirmed there was no entrapment and Company 1 was not needed. However, crews identified a structural integrity concern and proceeded with stabilization operations.

Chief 1 established command, and personnel from Rescue Engine 16 and Rescue 2 worked together to stabilize the affected structure utilizing struts and shoring techniques. Cherry Street Building Company provided prompt assistance by delivering the necessary lumber to complete the shoring operations.

All units operated efficiently to secure the scene and ensure the safety of occupants and responders.
