Lake Como is beautiful, but it's definitely not a hidden gem anymore. If you're looking for that same stunning scenery with a little more breathing room, here are five lakes I love:

• Lake Garda, Italy: The largest of Italy's lakes, with charming towns, lemon groves, and a livelier atmosphere.

• Lake Lugano, Switzerland: A mix of Italian charm and Swiss elegance, with palm trees, mountain views, and Milan just an hour away.

• Lake Lucerne, Switzerland: Historic lakeside hotels, mountain railways, and classic steamboats make this one feel timeless.

• Lake Bled, Slovenia: Picture-perfect with its island church, cliffside castle, and emerald-green water.

• Lake Bohinj, Slovenia: Just 30 minutes from Bled, but much quieter, surrounded by the Julian Alps and perfect for travelers looking to slow down.

Any one of these can be part of an incredible European itinerary. If one catches your eye, I'd love to help you build the perfect trip around it!

One of the biggest misconceptions about booking a hotel is that all rooms are basically the same.

They're not.

Two rooms at the same resort can deliver completely different vacations.

When I'm helping clients choose a room, I'm thinking about things like:

• Which building is closest to the beach.
• Which rooms are quiet and which are near the pool or evening entertainment.
• Which "ocean view" actually has an ocean view.
• Which layouts work best for families.
• Which rooms have the best sunrise or sunset views.

Those are the details you won't find on a booking website.

The right room can make a great vacation even better!

One of the questions I get asked the most is, "How far in advance should I book?"

The honest answer? It depends on the trip. Here's a quick cheat sheet:

12+ months: Safaris, Antarctica and expedition cruises, Japan during cherry blossom season, holiday travel, and river cruises.

9-12 months: Australia and New Zealand, Europe in the summer (especially if you have your heart set on a specific hotel), and multi-generational trips that need connecting rooms or villas.

6-9 months: Most European vacations, Southeast Asia, and Caribbean trips during the winter.

Under 6 months: City getaways, shoulder-season Europe, Mexico, and the occasional last-minute trip I can still work a little magic on.

A good rule of thumb: the more unique the trip, the smaller the property, or the more specific your travel dates, the earlier you should start planning.

If you're not sure where your trip falls, reach out. I'll let you know the ideal time to book so you have the best selection and pricing!

If you've been dreaming of Europe but don't want to cross the Atlantic, Québec City is about as close as you can get in North America.

Old Québec is the only walled city north of Mexico and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Cobblestone streets, centuries-old architecture, and French spoken throughout the city make it feel like you've stepped into Europe.

A few highlights:

• Ride the funicular to Petit-Champlain, one of North America's most charming streets, filled with boutiques and cafés.

• Stay at Auberge Saint-Antoine, where archaeological artifacts are displayed throughout the hotel, or the iconic Fairmont Le Château Frontenac overlooking the city.

Summer is perfect for outdoor cafés and terraces, while winter transforms the city into a snowy wonderland during Carnaval.

One of the things that makes Rosewood Le Guanahani so special is something that's surprisingly rare on St. Barths: space.

It's the island's only full resort, set across 18 acres on a private peninsula. One side overlooks the calm, shallow waters of Grand Cul-de-Sac, perfect for swimming, paddleboarding, and other water sports. The other faces the open sea.

A few of the things I love about this resort:

• The protected lagoon makes it one of the few luxury resorts on St. Barths that's especially well suited for families. It's also home to the island's only kids club.

• Sense, A Rosewood Spa is one of the largest on the island, with peaceful treatment cabanas overlooking the water.

• You're only a short drive from the restaurants, boutiques, and harbor in Gustavia, so it's easy to enjoy everything the island has to offer.

It's equally wonderful for a honeymoon, anniversary, or family vacation, which is one of the reasons it's such a favorite.

One of my favorite ways to plan a trip is combining two destinations into one unforgettable vacation.

Some pairings just work especially well:

• Hawaii + Japan: Spending a few days in Hawaii is a wonderful way to ease into the time change before continuing on to Japan.

• New Zealand + Fiji: Fiji is a natural stop on the journey, giving you the chance to enjoy two incredible destinations in one trip.

• Amsterdam + Brussels: Less than two hours apart by train, but each offers a completely different experience. Think canals and world-class museums in Amsterdam, then beautiful architecture, incredible chocolate, and Belgian culture in Brussels.

Thoughtful planning makes combinations like these feel seamless. Sometimes adding one more destination creates an even more memorable journey!

Every Caribbean island has its own personality. The key is finding the one that's the best fit for you.

They may look similar on a map, but each offers a completely different experience. Here are a few of my favorites and what each is known for:

🔹 St. Barths: Chic hotels, world-class dining, and French Caribbean charm.

🔹 Turks & Caicos: Calm, crystal-clear water, beautiful beaches, and an easy, relaxing getaway.

🔹 Anguilla: Quiet luxury, uncrowded beaches, and one of the Caribbean's best dining scenes.

🔹 St. Lucia: Dramatic scenery, lush rainforests, and the iconic Pitons rising straight from the sea.

🔹 Barbados: Elegant resorts, beautiful beaches, and a vibrant culture that extends well beyond the resorts.

The best island isn't the same for everyone. It depends on the kind of vacation you're looking for, who you're traveling with, and the experiences that matter most to you.

What's the best way to experience the Scottish Highlands?

One of the most unforgettable ways to experience them is aboard Belmond's Royal Scotsman. You unpack once, and Scotland comes to you.

As the train winds through lochs, glens, and past centuries-old castles, you'll enjoy elegant dining, whisky tastings led by the train's whisky ambassador, and evenings filled with live music in the lounge.

One of my favorite details? The Dior Spa onboard, where you can relax with a treatment while the Highlands roll past your window.

Along the way, you'll step off for unforgettable experiences, including private castle visits, distillery tours, and other exclusive experiences that make this journey truly special.

These departures often sell out a year or more in advance, so if the Scottish Highlands are on your travel wish list, now is a wonderful time to start planning!
