Pick the best vent type suited for the roof/attic and run with it.

Thanks for finding and sharing this, Trevor Atwell, Atwell Exteriors, Greenville, NC.

Tip of the Week...

"Client was wondering why the attic was hot after the last roofer 'installed' ridge vent." -- JR Lynch, Fortress Exteriors, Fishers, IN

It doesn't matter what exhaust vent is "installed" if the airflow opening is not cut into the roof deck. Homeowners, look up while in the attic and see if there is an airflow opening for the vent. If there isn't, talk to the installer.

Thanks for finding and sharing this, JR.

Found in the Field...

Using Box Vents (can vents, pot vents, turtle vents) low on the roof as intake is OK as long as the vent manufacturer has tested it for that application. Our next Podcast episode, AirVent University Lesson Plan & Pop Quiz will focus on this very topic soon.

In the meantime, thank you for finding and sharing this example, Mark Duncan, Hudson Bay Construction, Fulshear, TX.
