Dear Dallas Tri Delta Sisters - David Hall, husband of Dawn Renzetti Hall (Theta Kappa 1978 and Dallas Alumnae Chapter super-volunteer), shared this information regarding Dawn's current, difficult health challenge and her dire need for a living liver donor:
I don’t post very often, usually only when SMU beats TCU, but this might be the most important thing I’ve ever posted. My wife, Dawn, is critically ill with severe acute auto-immune hepatitis, and is on the official UT Southwestern liver transplant list. We’ve been battling it since last July, including three hospitalizations, and every test you can imagine. And using the word “we’ve” is like when men say “we” had a baby. Dawn has been through Hell. And, even with the brilliant doctors and researchers at UTSW, no one knows how Dawn got the disease. At this point, it doesn’t matter. It’s just bad luck.
There are two kinds of liver transplants, either from a deceased person or from a living donor. Typically, if you’re really sick, your only option is a liver from a deceased person. Dawn is at the point where a living donor liver would work.
If you or anyone you know would be interested/willing to consider donating part of your liver to Dawn (obviously, it’s a very personal and life-altering decision, and there are many tests to pass to be a good match), please look at the attached graphic. It includes a QR code to provide more information on the process. You can access the website at: utswlivingdonor.org, and you can call the transplant program directly for information at 214-645-1919.
Thank you for reading this, and please send prayers and good thoughts our way. And feel free to forward this to anyone you feel would be appropriate.
With much love and gratitude,
David and Dawn
Time is not on our side, so please forward this to anyone you deem appropriate. And, most of all, keep us in your prayers and send positive thoughts Dawn’s way.
God bless,
David
