Black Girls Travel Too was started and founded by Danny Rivers Mitchell who contributes Travel to saving her life. Growing up in the inner city streets of Mobile, Alabama with no dreams, hopes, or desires Danny was headed down a road many have traveled before her. It was only after an act of God’s expression of love that placed a woman by the name of Ms. Ludgood in Danny’s life where everything tu

rned around. Ludgood, changed Danny’s life because of her overflow of love that she received as achild. As a counselor in the Mobile, Alabama school district, Ms. Ludgood felt that inner city children did not have the same opportunities that suburban children had. She made a decision that she would do something that would let the inner city kids know that they matter, and she did. She orchestrated several group trips for inner city children, and on the first trip one of those kids just so happen to be Tameika Dianelle Rivers Mitchell, affectionally know as Danny. That trip and experience is a contributing factor in who Danny is today. Danny understands giving back and paying it forward. In 2010 Danny started to reflect a lot on her life over the years. There was one thing that stuck out for her. Knowing that if she would have never traveled at the time and age that she did as a young girl, she knew that more than likely she would not be where she is today, sharing her story with the world. In 2010 Danny came up with the idea to create a community that would inspire and empower women of color to travel the world.
