Gator season 2026 is in the books. Ended the season filling 4/5 tags. Pretty sure everyone had an opportunity on a 8’ gator, but at the end of the day, that isn’t even what matters. Gator hunting the way I do it is a brutal sport. It’s rough on the body and even rougher on equipment. But, the memories made make it all worth it. All of my hunters this year were newbies and each and every one made memories that they will never forget. I got to be a part of that. I only did hunts with friends and family this year and every one of them are special to me and my life. As much as I appreciate each one of you, I will never appreciate you as much as my wonderful wife Jana Black Willingham who supports me every step of the way. She is the rock star that holds everything together on the home front. And last, but certainly not least, the greatest thanks to the one and only God, my lord and savior. If you don’t know him, I pray that you will seek him. All of our blessings in this life are courtesy of him and he holds the key to an eternal life in Heaven.

Tired and headed home to see my wonderful bride. Will give a better season post later.

I’ve killed quite a few gators in the last 15 years and this 6’er ranks up there with my son’s and daughter’s first gator. That’s my son, daddy and nephew in the pic with me. My daddy and nephew have never done anything like this. He told me he wanted to shoot a 6’ gator and after a miss on a 7+, he did just that. Absolutely perfect shot and all on video. Don’t think I’ve ever seen him smile that big. Super proud uncle here. Now, hopefully one more tonight to finish out the season for me.

If there is anything this young man needs, it is definitely not help with killing gators or with making life decisions. Cason Bedford put in 8 full nights of gator hunting this season and tangled with some exceptional gators. At 4am this morning, he told me he was ready to go see his wife and 1 year old little boy and harvested this beautiful lake Seminole gator. He sure didn’t need my help but it was a pleasure sharing a boat with him the last 2 nights. I look forward to more adventures.

Always something. Burned up a water pump on the kicker this week. While replacing, I saw a little braided fishing line hanging out of the prop. I could have easily just cut it and rocked on. Sure glad I didn’t.
