A lot of people associate Ireland with Medieval history because of all of the castles and similar things from the time period.

But I was surprised the first time I visited to learn that there is a lot of really cool sites dating back to the Neolithic period which means many structures that are much older than the pyramids in Egypt!

One of our guests on my private tour of Ireland this week, requested that we try to visit some of the beehive houses. We took a scenic drive on the Di**le peninsula and stopped to check some out.

They are stacked a specific way with no mortar and have used this method for thousands of years.

Although the current ones we visited only date back to the early medieval period, getting to go inside and explore the site allowed us to get up close to a method used by people in this area for much longer.

One of my favorite things about a private tour is to be able to include special requests like these and to cater activities towards the interests of the group.

I am also a big fan of ancient history and love getting requests like these!

Happy birthday to my friend and amazing client Misti Pratt!! I always say one of the best benefits of starting Flipflops and Adventures has been the awesome friends I have made along the way.

Misti and I have adventured together in Austria, Slovenia, Germany, Italy, Hungary, Mexico, Greece, Croatia, France, Czech Republic and I am probably forgetting a couple of others as well.

We met on my Austrian Alps tour and became fast friends. We love to share food and plan adventures and it’s a huge honor that she trusts me to curate special private tours for her friends and family.

We are currently celebrating her birthday while on a private Ireland tour and having a great time making memories with her people she gathered and planned this adventure for.

I am so thankful to have met Misti on one of my tours and to have gained a dear friend and one of my best adventure buddies!!
