Personal best Redfish, Speckled Trout, Spanish Mackerel and marked Tripletail off the list with local client Pete and his son this past week. Had a really good time with these boys listening to some good music and catching some cool fish with these guys. This trip was about learning how to teach these guys some tips and tricks on improving their own game when they get to go in their boat and we got it done! Look forward to going out with these two again later in the year, really good vibes having these two on the boat, I truly enjoyed being their guide.

Good times and tight lines for one of my crews last week on the boat. These fellas vacation down here regularly but had never had the luck they were hoping for when it comes to targeting trout, reds or flounder. We had a little bit of a slow start but got the ball rolling with a 5’ blacktip shark and then started to get into a rhythm on some good game fish. Memories were made and tactics were learned to help them on their next effort, and hopefully I’ll see these guys again! Daniel and his nephew are welcome any time.

Got on a fun bite fishing the beach yesterday with Bill and his three boys! These guys have a house in Dauphin Island, Alabama and were interested in learning how to increase the quality of their catches when fishing from the beach and from shore. We started our morning on the beach and caught lots of catfish and a few stingrays that got the rods bent and then dialed in a speckled trout bite in some dirty water and were able to put several speckled fish in the box for their dinner as well as a bonus whiting. After a couple hours out front in the big waves we switched gears and hit some land based spots on the N side of the island where we were able to find another trout and a bonus flounder to close out the day. Had a good time with these guys and look forward to doing it again sometime!

Had a good time with a Kole and his Kentucky crew yesterday. We had to fight some tougher conditions and some dirtier water than preferred and were able to have a good time bending the rods and putting a few fish in the box. Kole and his family had us cracking up the whole time and they were an absolute ball to guide, look forward to seeing them next time they come to town!

Happy birthday to one of the best young guys around, Riley Ludlam. Riley has been a huge part of the business and has worked hard as a deck hand and helper as well as running trips on his own. It’s been very cool to become friends with him and to see him grow over the years and probably even cooler to see where this young man takes his future. Thanks for everything bud, look forward to our next trip!

Coming into some really good beach fishing conditions as warmer weather settles in and the water temperatures level out above 70-75 degrees. Redfish, puppy drum, whiting, and flounder are making for some fun action on the beach and the speckled trout are starting to poke around on the front beach as well. As we grow the business to offer both beach and boat trips, long time deck hand and helper, Riley Ludlam has been running majority of our beach trips and he’s been doing a jam up job at it. Whenever I’m not booked on the boat, I’m still running the beach with Riley and guiding folks any way I can. Didn’t get as many photos as I would’ve liked but had Mr. Scott these last two days and had a really good time doing some wade fishing with him and his buddies. Scott was referred to me a couple years back by Capt. Richard and we’ve been having fun ever since. Great client and absolutely incredible supporter of our area and local guide group, we’re blessed to have him around. We started off our first day doing some adventuring and we got one big fish but that was really all we got out of it, after that we continued the trend and fished somewhere I’ve never really been before and hadn’t spent much time. We got on a special bite throwing Coastal Brew Bait Co. plastics and caught lots of fish on day 1. Day 2 was a little different, a better start and then a slower finish to the day but still plenty of fish that were willing to chew on our 6” Darts and a bonus flounder that went to the stringer. Both days were really nice and we had some real nice fish to release as well as some for the grease.

Fishing has been a good time lately and I’m excited to get back out there and on some fish. Fun day on the boat yesterday with Austin Luke and his family. It’s always special to be supported by the local folks and really cool to be able to get out on the water with a guy like Austin for his birthday. Had a great time guiding these guys, we were able to grind it out for a pretty cool day with a nice mixed bag of fish for he and his family to take home. Look forward to getting out on the water with this crew soon, blessed to have some great friends and clients.

Conditions have been less than optimal but we’ve had some serious anglers looking to get it done despite the wind and the rain an the fish have cooperated with us pretty well. Redfish, speckled trout, flounder, whiting, Spanish mackerel, ladyfish and a few small bait fish have been keeping us busy and the rods bent. Fun couple days fishing the Altec group and a big group of our local captains. Blessed to get biggest Redfish on day 1 and squeaked out with first place on total weight overall for both days by 1.21 pounds. It was a grind in some rough seas and weather conditions but we put a wade together for some trout and fished out of the boat for our redfish to get it done. Look forward to fishing these guys and competing with our local guys next year, fun group and fun set up.
