COLDEST SINCE 1994? Global models are indicating this is very possible.

As pointed out by long-range winter forecasting expert Joe Bastardi, "It appears the morning of Jan 10 on the euro (European model) would be the coldest nationally since 1994."

Now, with that being said, this is on a national scale ... it doesn't mean every town in that pink is the coldest since 1994. I just wanted to clarify that point for the nit-picking crowd (we all know they show up on posts like this, lol).

He also says, "There are threats to the Lower Rio Grande Valley and Florida Citrus areas in a pattern like this, something that, for Florida, has been rare this century." He's a friend of the program and with the forecasting company WeatherBell.
