A Legacy of Leadership, A Heart Full of Gratitude
Some people don’t just lead an organization; they leave a lasting mark on an entire community. Danielle Gibson is one of those people.
After years of dedicated service as President and CEO of Decatur Morgan County Tourism, Danielle is beginning an exciting new chapter in her professional journey. While we will certainly miss her leadership, creativity and passion, we could not be more excited for what lies ahead for her.
During her time with DMCT, Danielle has been so much more than a leader. She has been a champion for our community, a visionary for tourism, a friend to countless local businesses, and one of Decatur and Morgan County’s biggest cheerleaders.
From helping bring national sporting events to our community and expanding our tourism trails to championing the Tennessee RiverLine, strengthening partnerships, and finding new ways to showcase everything that makes Morgan County special, Danielle’s impact can be seen and felt throughout our destination.
Her dedication has earned her numerous local, regional, and statewide honors;
"Lynn C. Fowler Non-Profit Professional of the Year" in 2022 by Decatur-Morgan County Chamber of Commerce, "Tourism Executive of the Year" at Alabama Governor's Conference on Tourism in 2022,
“Tourism Professional of the Year” by Visit North Alabama in 2023, "Vocational Service Award" by Rotary Noon Club of Decatur 2024, “Extra Mile Award” for her outstanding dedication and leadership from Tennessee RiverLine (2021, 2024 & 2025), and “String of Pearls Award” at Visit North Alabama 2025 PEAK Awards.
During her time as CEO and President Danielle Gibson helped Decatur become an official Tennessee RiverLine RiverTown, worked with the team responsible for bringing the Blue Bike Share program to Decatur, established the MoCo Mural Trail, developed the MoCo Treat Trail, the Art Trail and Unknown Trail.
She helped introduce the Bad and Boujee Bourbon Club, helped move Decatur Morgan County Tourism into its new riverfront Visitors Center and assisted in securing national sporting championships.
During her leadership she’s expanded digital tourism experiences, partnered in Decatur's $18.4 million trail connectivity project and supported the development of a major civil rights tourism destination.
But perhaps her greatest accomplishment is something that cannot be measured by an award, the relationships she has built, the people she has encouraged and the pride she has inspired in the place we call home.
Danielle has always believed in the potential of Decatur and Morgan County, and because of that belief, she has helped so many others see it too.
As she moves on to her next adventure, we want her to know that she will always have a home and a cheering section here at Decatur Morgan County Tourism. Just as she has spent years supporting this community, we will continue to support her, celebrate her accomplishments and cheer her on in this next chapter.
Danielle, thank you for the countless hours, big ideas, hard work, laughter, friendships and heart you have poured into DMCT. Thank you for believing in our community and for helping us dream bigger.
