Another beautiful Monday at the Pennington mine pit. We started with a longer than usual walk, 4.97 miles and then a shorter paddle to the “Caribbean blue water” in the mineral pool. Good lunch and conversation, we had a paddle snafu so Claire had an interesting time. I hope I can add the video of her 1/2 paddle paddling!!😂 Got it added! Also, forgot to mention the black bear that was in the road when we left! Fun to see when we were safely sitting in our car….glad we didn’t meet it on our walk!Now I see it posted twice!! Not sure how that happened, but I’m leaving it because once before I tried to delete one and they both went away!!

Our first paddle of 2026! We had a nice walk, did some plant identification, and then got out on the Pennington mine pit. There was only a tiny bit of wind, not too hot, and, as always, a great lunch on the water!

We walked the Paul Bunyan Trail from the arboretum. A beautiful morning with sunshine warmer temps and no wind!

I finally remembered to take some pictures…..and then forgot to post them! It was great to have so many of our snowbirds back!! We had 12 of us head out to walk, not everyone was able to stay for lunch, but it was delicious!

The MN group had a good walk, a little icy, no picture this week. In the far North I hiked the my “Horrible Idea” hiking group. As much as I love our MN hikes, we don’t see moose along the way down there!!

Once again we had reports from all across the country and around the world. Barb and Ted checked in from somewhere in Europe, maybe Vienna, Pat checked in from AZ and the MN crew walked at the college due to the -16 windchill. We also had 2 St. Patrick’s Day celebrations, unfortunately we only have pictures from the Saturday celebration at Dunmire’s. On the 17th, Kathleen made Irish nachos, a version of German nachos, but with corned beef instead of ham. Needless to say, they were delicious. We topped them off with pizza, sloppy joes, car bomb cupcakes and ice cream!

We had a great walk on the trail by Whipple Beach, and then, after 2 years of trying to get them, we got our German Nachos at KC’s Saloon in Pillager!!! They were definitely worth the wait and 1 order filled up the 4 of us!!! For those of you who missed this outing, we will most definitely go back again!!
