🚨 Advisory: Heavy rains and flooding have caused significant impacts around Maryland, including our waterways. Anyone who plans on paddling, kayaking, canoeing, fishing, boating, or other water activities this week should be aware that debris like fallen trees can block access and add extra danger. This is particularly true in our Western Maryland rivers, where differing elevations and their resulting water flow provide ample recreational opportunities but also greater risk due to obstructions. Please use extreme caution before entering our waterways!

💧💩 CHOPTANK RIVER BACTERIA REPORT – 6/26/25 💩💧
Hey everyone — this week, 7 out of 17 sites failed to meet water quality standards for safe swimming. Two of those—Willis Street Beach and Trappe Landing—had significantly elevated bacteria levels, making them especially unsafe for recreation right now. This is a reminder of how unpredictable bacteria spikes can be and why it’s so important to check the results before you swim.

⚠️ NOTICE: Windy Hill Landing remains temporarily closed while the dock is under construction.

Completed.

Completed in June 2017, the Wharves of Choptank Visitor and Heritage Center has been 15 year’s in the making.

The visitor center welcomes travelers to Caroline County and should be your first stop to discovering what Caroline County has to offer.

The visitor center offers a great place for travelers to stop, strech their legs, find information on Caroline County and its towns, and take in the views of the Choptank River.
