Formerly with Denton Haunts, Shelly branched out on her own to be able to offer you more than what you will find in the library or on-line. Y'all Denton has some fun shenanigans going on for Halloween and the month of October. And, yes there will be ghost stories, but NOT by Ghosts of Denton. I am NOT the tour guide on these excursions. Several people have asked me if I’m going to be telling stories again. Some had seen the “About” page for Denton Haunts, which will be providing the tours. It states:
”Partnering with Doc in 2012 is Shelly Tucker, a celebrated professional storyteller and recognized “American Masterpiece” by the National Endowments for the Arts, who brings her enchanting Texas twang to investigating the tales.” I have NOT been associated with Denton Haunts since 2013.
The host for the tours will be Shaun Treat, and I think they are planned for Friday and Saturday nights. Check the link for availability.

Numerous people have been asking about the ghost tour, so it’s time to give an update. I’ve had to make a difficult decision, but there will be no more public Ghosts of Denton tours in the near future (if at all).

The past year I have been battling two separate cancers, with chemo, radiation, surgery, and a heavier round of chemo. It seems to have done the job, but it has left my body too weak to stand and walk around the square for an evening talking to you. It has left my immune system too weak to fight off a cold, much less Covid.

To those of you who have been my patrons, I cannot thank you enough for the support and the opportunity to share the stories. It has been a pleasure. To those I have missed, I’m sorry I won’t get to entertain you.

I hope our paths cross down the road. Meanwhile, Happy Trails.

2020 wasn’t a good year for us, my friends, with the global pandemic shutting down businesses right and left, including Ghosts of Denton. Now, in 2021, we are in a “fourth wave” of the pandemic. I wouldn’t be giving tours during this time, anyway, but there has been a “plot twist.”

Right now, your tour guide is dealing with a major illness that will keep me homebound for close to a year. For the foreseeable future, the ghost tours are on hiatus. Here is hoping that I’ll heal enough to be back one day.

Until then, be smart, stay safe, and don't become a ghost of Denton!

Do you have a haunting in your house? If so, you might be interested in this; if not, feel free to pass it along. An email arrived from a friend in city government (so I'm certain it is legitimate). It was from the Texas Film Commission, and included the flyer below. Here was the information on the e-mail (sorry about the length):
" Our office has been working with Essential Media regarding a new reality TV series they are looking to potentially film in Texas called GHOST LOOP. Essential Media is an award-winning multi-genre production company that has been behind hit reality TV shows such as TEXAS FLIP-N-MOVE, WHAT’S THE CATCH and GOURMET FARMER. Our office has had a positive working relationship with Essential Media for many years, as one of their North American offices is located in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
This production team is actively casting: home owners and business owners who are currently experiencing recurring paranormal activity and are desperate for a solution. If a location in your community is submitted and selected, the production team will be looking to film at each location for about 5 days, which would include the production team temporarily transforming a haunted area of the house into a trigger environment for the ghost(s).
Please see the flyer attached for additional information about GHOST LOOP and if you have any leads on locations within your community that may be a good potential fit for the needs of this project, please email: [email protected] with your name, contact info and a brief description of the paranormal activity that is being experienced at the location(s). If you have any photos of the location(s) or links to websites (if applicable), please be sure to include those in your email reply as well for the production team’s additional consideration.
As far as timeframes go, they are hoping to get their filming locations locked in by the end of this April and they will start filming mid-May to the end of June. In order to have the most competitive consideration, we encourage you and your community to submit any locations within the next week or two. If you would also like to share this flyer with your community via social media, please feel free to do so as well.
If you have any additional questions about this show or this project’s location needs, please contact the production team directly at:
[email protected]. "
