This morning‘s walk felt so familar to walk in New England in the fall. Crisp cool air., leaves changing, anticipatory puppy, and we got to the pond, and there was a gaggle of geese, a raft of mallards ducks, and another blue Heron. it wasn’t Sophie, but another one. I giggled as the feathered world showed up in full support

Well it was inevitable, I have know it would be coming, the day before the last picture I posted of her wings spread- she flew right over me literally 15-20 feet above me- Letting me see her strength, her power in flight and her grace and capacity. I have had several days of wondering is this it- some filled with tears- has she migrated? I have been so intentional sending loving appreciations and expressions to her- acknowledging this is part of life and living - is grief--My growthful learning edges is holding the dual awareness- the big both and- its so much easier to hold one or the other--I can hold deep connection and love and sadness all together. Ive wondered as the mornings are colder and colder- And today as we walked to the pond - there was an empty pond- I noticed how the pond's water had receded significantly, this would not be a sustainable habitat, and as the water will eventually freeze. My heart felt such deep thanks for this feathered friend, I sent her off with love on her journey-as she did mine. Nessie and I walked on today, continuing the journey. I was wondering who else we would meet and share some parts of the path with. Empty pond- sitting with a special heron
