Planning a trip to Peru? 🇵🇪✨
Here are a few things I learned during my recent adventure that may help make your experience even smoother:
1️⃣ Give yourself time to explore. Peru is BIG, and travel distances between major attractions can be longer than expected. Don’t rush it — the journey is part of the magic.
2️⃣ Altitude is REAL. Especially in Cusco! Plan to spend at least 1–2 days acclimating before heading to the Sacred Valley or doing strenuous hikes like the Inca Trail.
3️⃣ Visiting Machu Picchu is an unforgettable experience… but planning ahead is key! 🎟️ Tickets sell out FAST, especially during high season. Booking in advance will save you stress and long last-minute lines.
4️⃣ Machu Picchu has several circuits/routes to choose from. If there are multiple areas you want to experience, you may need more than one reservation depending on the routes selected.
5️⃣ Be mindful of rainy season. Weather in the Andes can change quickly, and delays/disruptions are possible. Always pack layers and account for flexibility in your itinerary. 🌦️
6️⃣ Don’t underestimate recovery/rest days. Between the altitude, hiking, and moving around, your body will thank you for slower days filled with good food, coffee, culture, and wandering through beautiful places like Cusco and the Sacred Valley. ❤️
