This photo is from back in 2008 when I got my first professional digital camera, a Nikon D100. I did some minor dramatic tweaking using Photoshop. The photo won a catagory at The Iowa State Fair and was used for numerous Des Moines publications. Also placed in other photo contests. We've come a long way since then. Taken at Greenwood Park, Des Moines, Iowa.

I shot this on film over 25 years ago; a snowy walk at Gray's Lake, Des Moines. After being digitized for web, it looks like AI, but it's not.

Here are two black & whites from a short wedding shoot, a couple years ago at a farm on a dirt road rural Boone, Iowa. I love the contrast in textures between the people and their surroundings. Horizontal old barn wood and vertical plants add a bit of a surreal feeling to the images. The barb wire fence is not something photographers would usually include in wedding photos; I like how the crops and the flowering plants are seperated my a dark, man-made, non-organic border. The photos show how back in the "boonies" we really were. Shot with a Nikon D810 in color, then edited in b&w in Adobe Lightroom.

A different view of the "Alphabet Man" in The Des Moines Sculpture Garden. Lying on my back on the ground by the feet of the wedding couple; shooting up into the scupture at night, with seperate off-camera flash. I've seen 100's of wedding photos done with the "Alphabet Man", but none like this. It's fun to create 'new' images.

Kimberly Steffen & Greg Ingram Wedding Day March 29th, 2025. We started at Hotel Pattee and then headed over to La Poste in Perry, IA. Both locations are restored historical buildings, beautiful for a wedding celebration. It was cloudy and a bit windy, but it never rained on us. It was a great time with wonderful people; congratulations to the happy couple.

Iowa Cats Dance Company presentation of The Nutcracker December 15th, 2024. I was there to shoot video of the 1:00 & 4:00 performances. This is the second year I've worked for ICDC and it is always a joy to watch their performances and recitals.
