As a luxury travel advisor with a personal passion for food, when a client comes to me to plan a culinary trip, these are the three destinations I keep coming back to. They’re under-the-radar, with innovative yet history-rich traditions. And the flavors are often not something you taste at home.

🇵🇪 Lima, Peru, where fusion is the foundation. Two of the last three World’s Best Restaurant titles went to Lima, and currently four Lima restaurants sit in the global top 40. From award-winning Nikkei tasting menus to anticuchos grilled over an open flame at a 50-year-old local vendor, Lima is one of the most decorated culinary destinations that many travelers don’t even have on their radar.

🇲🇽 Oaxaca, Mexico — smoke, spice, and 3,000 years of culinary tradition. Eat your way through the Mercado 20 de Noviembre, where vendors grill chorizos and cecinas over charcoal. Or taste a modern twist on Oaxaca staples at a Top Chef winning restaurant. Both experiences highlight that no amount of tourism changes centuries of culinary history. Oaxaca is for travelers who want to eat something they won’t find anywhere else.

🇪🇸 San Sebastian, Spain is the sea on a plate, simple yet luxuriously delicious. It has more Michelin stars per square foot than other cities in the world, second only to Kyoto. Bar hop through the city to try various pintxos and local w**es, or indulge in a tasting menu at some of the best restaurants in the world. Simplicity is key here. But you may never taste a better grilled octopus or fresh anchovy in your life.

These three culinary destinations present completely different food philosophies. History, fusion, simplicity.

There is no such thing as the best hotel in any destination. There is only the best hotel for you and the type of trip you’re taking.

This past year I stayed at several hotels with completely different vibes and sense of place. MANNA in Greece and Grand Velas in Los Cabos are two that stuck with me. I walked away from each one with specific clients in mind, knowing exactly who would love it and why.

Grand Velas is a surprisingly luxurious all-inclusive for someone who wants to arrive, settle in, and never feel the need to leave. World class spa, Michelin-level dining, ocean views — and it has become a go-to for my clients looking for that midwinter R&R escape.

MANNA, set in the heart of Greece’s Arcadia mountains, is where I send someone who wants a nature-immersive, restorative pause. Walk out the door into an ancient fir forest for a morning hike, then return for a leisurely lunch and an afternoon cozied up with a book in front of a picturesque forest view.

Both are exceptional. Neither is necessarily right for everyone or every trip.

As a luxury travel advisor, I’m not pulling from a ranked list when I put together a proposal for your trip. I’m thinking about how you travel, what you’re going to do while you’re there, and what the trip is actually supposed to feel like. Then I find the property that matches all of that.

My birthday trip to Rwanda + Kenya next year, a client’s first safari...each designed around the traveler and the occasion.

No two safaris I plan look the same — and that’s exactly the point.

Theirs starts in the South African bush and ends with w**e in Cape Town.

Mine moves from a mountain gorilla trek in Rwanda through three of Kenya’s most distinct landscapes. Same continent, completely different journeys.

The best hotel for your trip isn’t the one with the best reviews. It’s the one that matches your energy.

As a luxury travel advisor, knowing the difference is something I’ve spent years learning how to see.

A pool full of influencers might be someone’s dream and someone else’s nightmare. A quiet breakfast buffet is perfect for one client and boring for another. A honeymoon hotel is romantic until you show up with your teenagers.

This is the nuance that doesn’t live on a booking site. It lives in the hours I’ve spent walking properties, watching how guests move through a space, noticing what a hotel is actually designed to feel like and for who.

Buenos Aires, Argentina 🇦🇷

Tree-lined streets. The smell of coffee and fresh-baked pastries. Long dinners over tender steaks and Malbec.

From relaxed mornings at the park to exploring the city streets and the surrounding countryside, Buenos Aires is a city that captures visitors in different ways. Art lover? Passion for food? Cheering with locals at a sports match?
