The latest vehicle theft data reveals more than a nationwide trend. 📊

NICB's mid-year analysis shows that vehicle thefts declined across the country during the first half of 2026. Every state recorded a year-over-year decrease, but vehicle theft remains a concern for communities and vehicle owners nationwide.

Tim Slater, NICB Chief Operating Officer, highlighted, "These results demonstrate what can be accomplished through sustained collaboration among law enforcement insurers, auto theft prevention authorities and other partners."

🚨Vehicle thefts are down, but the threat is still real.

New NICB vehicle theft data trends found that 268,415 vehicles were stolen across the U.S. during the first half of 2026, a 21% decrease from the same period last year. In addition, every state saw a year-over-year decline.

Although the progress is encouraging, more than a quarter million vehicle thefts in six months is a reminder to stay vigilant and take steps to protect your vehicle.

You could pay for a life insurance policy that doesn't actually exist.

It happens when scammers pose as licensed agents, sell policies that don't exist, and ask you to pay premiums directly to them instead of an insurance company.

Before you buy a policy, confirm your agent is licensed by contacting your state's Department of Insurance. Find yours through the National Association of Insurance Commissioners.
