We’re breaking up.

No, not with one another. We’re breaking up with AI content. Listen, we love a lot of things about AI. Meg built a career on using it to gain operational efficiency. Kim has seen first-hand how it’s revolutionized education in some areas. It has its place.

We’ll still use it where it makes sense to us (for strategy and planning our content), but the posts you see will always be written by us (with a little help from spell check, the OG of AI). The only thing whispering will be us to each other (usually speculating about someone’s fabulous outfit). The only thing doing anything quietly will be the ocean breeze. As for announcing itself? We’ll be doing that too—usually with the pop of a champagne cork. And we’re bringing back the em-dash. We love it and have been avoiding it since it’s an AI tell. Finally, we can sleep at night and stop wondering if we used the semi-colon correctly.

As for photos? We still love a little light editing (Kim is photogenic. Meg…is not). Sometimes we’ll use stock footage or approved photos from our suppliers— but they will always be photos. If we don’t have a photo that perfectly articulates what we want to say, we’ll use words instead.

This isn’t a judgement on values or how others choose to create their content. But our business is travel, not social media. We love it as a tool to build true and lasting connections with people all over the world , and we find we do that best when we’re presenting as our own (sometimes messy) selves. We hope you like it here as much as we do.

It’s no secret that the Florence, Italy is all about the art and the Uffizi Gallery hosts some of the city’s best. While seeing the famous pieces is the draw, some are also drawn to lesser known pieces and the progression of color.

Medieval pieces were heavily guided because gold was cheap. It was simply a supply and demand issue. Only the royals demanded it, keeping the costs low. This changed during the 16th-17th century when more “elites” started to demand the metal.

You can see the progression in these paintings, introducing, blues, purples, pinks, several shades of red, and even periwinkle. Can you identify the artists of any of these pieces?

We’re swinging back north today back into the Dolomites, after a dramatic 48 hours on the Olympic stage. French ice dancers Laurence Fournier Beaudry & Guillaume Cizeron took gold over US team Madison Chock and Evan Bates. The hockey preliminary rounds wrapped up with strong performances by both the women’s and men’s US contingent. Finally Austria’s Alessandro Hæmmerle won his second straight gold in men’s snowboard cross.

Trento Alto Adige is where Hæmmerle feels comfortable and is our featured region today. If your idea of Italy includes mountain air, alpine lodges, and serious outdoor adventure, Trentino–Alto Adige belongs on your list.

The Olympics took us on a roller coaster these past few days. From Francesca Lollobrigida’s upset over speed skating powerhouse, Holland, to Lindsay Vonn's heartbreaking fall, to Team USA taking home figure skating gold, we were on the edge of our seats.

We’re traveling further south from Winter Olympics country to the coastal region of Liguria.

Liguria stretches along Italy’s northwest coast, squeezed between steep mountains and the Ligurian Sea.
This geography shapes everything here with terraced villages, dramatic hiking trails, seafood-forward cooking, and cities built around the water. From Cinque Terre to Portofino to historic Genoa, Liguria is Italy at its most vertical and visual.
