Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church started in 1830 when it was called Church in the Woods because it was so far from the city. After renaming the church, it had new builds in 1852, 1907, and the current building opened in 1929.

Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church was founded in 1882 by German immigrants and helped plant 7 other churches throughout Detroit from 1887–1916. The original wooden church was demolished and replaced by the Neo-gothic stone structure in 1932.
