I started Seeing Detroit with Ash 7 years ago.
Not for clout. Not for notoriety.

I started this page because 10 years ago, when I was out exploring new bars and restaurants in downtown Detroit, I rarely saw anyone who looked like me in those spaces. I was showing up anyway. I was discovering anyway. And I realized my community wasn’t being reflected—or invited.

So I created this page for my culture and my community.
Not for monetization. Not for popularity.
But to support, highlight, and put us on.

If I’ve ever put you onto a spot.
If I’ve ever given you a tip on where to go.
If my content has helped you explore Detroit differently—
