Surprise! We added a very special treat to our Merry & Bright: Detroit Holiday Lights tour and told nobody: Family portraits!

We hired a professional photographer to shoot family and group portraits of every group that went on our holiday lights tour because we wanted you to have something special to remember the evening. We didn't tell anyone ahead of time because we want to make sure we could nail it first.

This is one of the most fun parts of the whole tour. Turns out most people are actually hams and love having their pictures taken, who knew? ANYWAY. We publish the photos to a folder that you get to keep and use for whatever you want each night.

Here are some examples of fun portraits we've done from the last few weeks.

Since it's nearly the holidays, I'm looking through photos from previous years of Merry & Bright: The Detroit Holiday Lights tour we do every December. Going through these photos I'm just struck by how many happy families we've served over the 10+ years of doing this tour: So many smiling faces, so many huge groups we've successfully ferried around, so many cups of hot cocoa consumed - spiked or not.

That said, I simply can't believe that Thanksgiving is right around the corner and somehow Christmas/etc. is only over a month away. It's 60 out, this feels illegal. ANYWAYS. Since time marches forward forever and ever, we may as well get along with it: Tickets are now on sale for our tour while they last.

Vote Rides is officially back for 2024!

As we approach another election season, we’ve discovered the same issues remain — barriers and access to polls are what continue to keep residents of Detroit, Highland Park, and Hamtramck from getting their voices heard.

For this reason, we are back for another Vote Rides initiative to make sure that everyone who wants to participate in the perhaps the most important part of our democracy can do so.

But we can make it much better.

We’re working the solve the transportation issue for those who want to vote. This election day we’re going to run routes with an army of volunteers with their own cars, as well as our own buses, to get everyone in the Detroit Metro Area to their local polling place. It’s pretty ambitious, but big problems usually need big answers.

This year we’re serving Detroit, Hamtramck, and Highland Park.
