On this date 49 years ago, the 𝗥𝗲𝗻𝗮𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿 was dedicated in downtown Detroit, on Apr. 15, 1977.

Originally developed by Ford and later serving as General Motors’ headquarters, the RenCen is now transitioning into a mixed-use residential and hospitality complex following GM’s departure in January 2026.

As of April 2026, much of the complex is vacated and closed to the public. The Marriott hotel remains open, accessible via its main entrance on Renaissance Drive West, while Andiamo Detroit Riverfront and Joe Muer Seafood are expected to remain open through late 2026 and June 2027, respectively.
