Guide Zach has been out on the water the last few days showing clients what Devils Lake is all about, with all the bug hatches and lack of wind mixed in with CLEAR water it’s been an up and down spring but as pictures show we can still put walleyes on the table! Some of you may already know while some haven’t heard a thing, yes Zach Schemionek is still guiding, recently joining the crew at Wild Eyes Guide Service he is a great addition to the crew and is ready to put clients on the fish any day now in the boat! He will also be getting back into the winter guiding as well, but only doing a couple days each week so his spots are filling fast! Yesterday was way too nice to not get the boat out to make sure everything is all set for the soon to start guide season and tournament schedule, we hit the water at 3 hoping to get a few quick fish for dinner but instead we boated over 15 fish with the smallest being 23” so all the fish were blessed to swim back to where they came from! I’m starting my season this Wednesday with a group and after that it’s game on, still have some openings in may available yet or into the summer months give a call and let’s chat fishing and get your next fishing trip planned! With the nice weather starting to shape up and thaw the lake it means boat preparation has started and we are getting very close to the open water season! June is starting to shape up to be a busy month but still have dates available, but don’t be afraid to look into a trip in may if you like to watch bobbers drop with angry walleyes on the other side of the line! The start to the year started off strong and has slowed down a little since but could it mean the best is yet to come? Don’t know unless you try, we have a lot of good dates and few weekends open in February and goin into March so if you’re looking to get on the ice and chase down some fish now is the time to start thinking about that February or March trip! As the summer is dwindling fast and fall coming means the open water guide trips are slowing down, to say this summer hasn’t been interesting is a understatement with ups and downs but we still managed to always catch some fish! Great week with a couple awesome groups of clients! Thanks for coming and fishing with us this week and putting up with the non stop wind and waves, it’s made it a challenge for boat control but as you can see we are still getting fish in the boat! Lots of fun being had on devils lake as the water temps are slowly starting to climb and fish are setting up into some summer patterns and the best is yet to come!
