The LHSC seeks to promote and improve snowmobiling in our area by: providing a warm clubhouse & a private parking lot for members, organizing trail work days, holding grass drag races, offering a snowmobile safety course, and organizing snowmobile events such as poker runs and trail rides. The club also holds a member-only christmas party, and banquet each fall.

Thank you to everyone involved with the groomer and carport projects. We completed the carport build yesterday, and now the groomer is safely tucked away inside.

Reminder& The next event for our club is this Saturday, January 18th. It is our winter fun day. The members only bonfire / trail ride was a blast. We had a wonderful turnout. It was great to reconnect with everybody before hitting the trails for the weekend. Welcome to all the new members who signed up and joined in for the event.

The Christmas party is over for another year. There was chicken and potatoes and lots of homemade dishes along with candied grapes, apple pie, gingerbread, and brownies for dessert. Lots of fun conversation and plans for vacations were shared. We decorated cookies and made ornaments. Here are a few highlight photos. We're all ready for the season. It officially starts today, however the gates won't be open until we get enough snow to ride.

We had a fun and informational annual DCNR meeting. Laurel Hill State Park and Forbes State Forest both sent representatives to share with us the latest trail news and work completion. A few of the highlights include work done on Martz and Pump House trails in Laurel Hill State Park. Improvements were also made on Mountain Streams trail in Forbes. They will be opening the gates as soon as there is significant enough snow amounts for trail safety. There were a few concerns such as the access to Reese's Hill now that it is under new ownership. Maple Summit has attained permission for this year. Please take care to be respectful of the trail area heading towards sporting clays and the Maple Summit system. Going to and from Somerset is an issue this year. Unfortunately, the bridge over Laurel Hill on Jimtown Road is completely barricaded and closed by Penn Dot due to safety issues. Access to the Northside of our trail system should be easier this year. Forbes enlarged the lower ski parking lot on Tunnel Road so that Jefferson township no longer will need to maintain the road to the top of the hill. This should give us a much better surface to ride on. There was plenty of more information but these are the main highlights. Thank you to everyone that showed up and to DCNR for all of the information and hard work that went into preparing us for the season.
