Big family vacations are amazing—but the little logistics matter.

Save this for the next time you’re planning a
family getaway, and send it to the person who usually handles the whole thing.

The best vacation homes have places to be together AND places to get away.

Here’s what I’ve learned after hosting big family vacations: togetherness is great. Being on top of each other is not.

Your family wants to eat together and sit around the fire. But somebody will need a nap, somebody will want to read, and somebody will need five minutes without hearing ‘Mom!’ Look for big gathering spaces and little escape spaces. That’s the sweet spot.

While MIDDLEHAVEN is no longer our largest property, it remains wildly popular. It has location, privacy, and a touch of magic.
