A program is shaped by the people students meet along the way:

The Nepali guide who shares their stories of the local trails.

The conservationist in Thailand who brings the forest ecosystem to life.

The South African community members who share their experiences and perspectives.

The field staff who turn an unfamiliar environment into a place where students feel comfortable to explore.

These connections between students and community are a big part of what makes experiential learning meaningful.🌏

1 year. More than 160 students. 🌍

A huge thank you to every school that travelled with World of Difference in 2025/2026. Together, you supported conservation and community projects across five countries, from sea turtle monitoring in Trang to an organic cacao farm in Gandoca.

A few highlights:

🗺️ Crescent School sent two groups to Gandoca and Tenerife
🗺️ The Ohio State University ran programs in Chiang Mai and Cape Town in the same two weeks
🗺️ Lycée International School of Los Angeles and New York University returned to Gandoca!

Thank you for trusting us with your students, and for the curiosity and energy they brought to every community. Here’s to the 2026/2027 season ahead 🌿

There’s so much to learn from a new place.

The food. The landscape. The wildlife. The people you meet.

When students travel somewhere new, they’re not just seeing a different part of the world. They’re learning how to navigate, understand and engage with things that feel unfamiliar.

And that’s what makes the experience so memorable.

The lessons that outlast the semester 🗺️

The lessons learned while on a World of Difference Expedition to Gandoca, Costa Rica? Those endure for a lifetime.

Here is how our immersive Costa Rica expedition transforms syllabus topics into lifelong lessons:

⭐ Biodiversity in Action
Encounter a variety of unique species from the two-toed sloth and red dart frogs, to spying on some of the 430 different species of beautiful birds.

⭐ Adventure and Resilience
Hike in the lush forests surrounding Gandoca to see beautiful waterfalls and other natural wonders.

The best investment in your child’s education? A global perspective. 🌎 Read participant Macy Szukics’ testimonial to hear first hand. 👇

“I’m so happy that I was fortunate enough to be able to take the opportunity to go with World of Difference to South Africa. It was the best experience of my life so far and was incredibly rewarding. I’m so grateful for everything this trip has taught me: how to work with kids better, build connections with people abroad, learn about other cultures and traditions, and immerse myself in everything Cape Town has to offer! Thank you so much, World of Difference, I will never forget these 3 weeks!”

Reflecting on an incredible two weeks in Chiang Mai with The Greenspire School! 🇹🇭🌿

Stepping out of the classroom, the group spent their time immersed in the community of Huay Pakoot. By examining the realities of ethical elephant tourism firsthand, they got to experience what real community-led conservation and cultural exchange look like in practice.

From wildlife preservation to hands-on problem-solving, this experience pushed everyone to think critically, work together, and step into new leadership roles.

They return home with far more than just great memories: they are bringing back broader perspectives, real-world skills, and a deeper understanding of what it means to be an active global citizen! 💚

Happy International Youth Day! 🌍

The theme of this year’s International Youth Day is "Different Contexts, Common Aspirations". Across countries, communities and contexts, young people seek dignity, opportunity, meaningful participation, decent work, quality education, and a sustainable future.

Through our global school expeditions, World of Difference equips students with the relevant skills needed to lead, innovate and stand out from the crowd.

Our unique programs allow students to make a tangible difference in ethical conservation and community development initiatives, building a better world by contributing to vital, locally-led projects that strive for a more just, equitable and sustainable world.

Happy Marine Protected Areas (MPA) Day! 🌊🌍

On August 1st, the world celebrates "nature reserves of the sea", raising awareness about their importance and protecting these vulnerable ecosystems. Today, we are shining a spotlight on one of our favorite real-world classrooms: Tenerife.

Tenerife’s west coast was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site for cetacean (dolphin and whale) conservation in 2021, becoming the first Whale Heritage Site in Europe.

With World of Difference, experience one of the world's most beautiful and diverse island locations, witness some of the 20 to 30 species of whales and dolphins found in Tenerife's crystal-clear waters, and conduct surveys by boat and observe cetaceans in their natural habitat.

Looking for a field trip that actually aligns with your syllabus? Here is how we bridge the gap between your classroom theory and real-world experience in Thailand.

🌿 Conservation Science & Ecology
Step out of the classroom and into the field. Get the chance to experience extraordinary natural landscapes and animals in the wild, such as hands-on conservation efforts with Asian elephants in Chiang Mai and coastal and ecosystem restoration in Trang.

🏘️ Cultural Immersion & Adventure
Immerse yourself in Thai culture through a range of incredible activities and adventures including foraging, learning about medicinal plants, hiking in the forests and cooking traditional Thai food.

🤝 Life Skill Building & Tangible Impact
Learn about specific conservation challenges, local dialects, traditional skills, and actively contribute to tangible conservation outcomes in both a jungle and a coastal setting. Experience the impact from the reintegration of rescued Asian elephants into their natural mountain habitat with local Karen Mahoots, to self-sustainable ecotourism through English lessons and capacity building.
