STEM isn't just found in textbooks – it’s happening in the wild. From tracking marine migration to protecting endangered ecosystems, these trips offer high schoolers a chance to solve real-world problems while exploring the world.

Chiang Mai, Thailand
In Thailand’s northern region, students in our elephant conservation program can support essential conservation projects in the Karen community of Huay Pakoot, led by experienced impact directors.

The Canary Islands, Spain
As part of our marine conservation program in Tenerife, students will help collect data on whales and dolphins, collaborating with partners like the Teno-Rasca Marine Reserve, a protected area committed to safeguarding vulnerable species and habitats.

Kefalonia, Greece
This coastal conservation program is dedicated to safeguarding and preserving the remarkable loggerhead turtles that inhabit these crystal-clear waters. Students will work alongside these magnificent creatures, actively contributing to long-term conservation efforts.

Gandoca, Costa Rica
For high school students who are passionate about wildlife and the environment, our conservation experience in Gandoca is an ideal choice. Home to a wide variety of animals, including sloths and howler monkeys, this region acts as a huge outdoor classroom, allowing students to deepen their understanding of conservation and ecology.

We were thrilled to have Branksome Hall back with World of Difference this year!

The Canadian school has travelled to a number of our locations throughout the years, and in 2026 made their return to South Africa for a two-leg program.

The first half of their trip saw the group travel to the Eastern Cape to join local students at Get Ahead Schools. From beadwork and storytelling to classroom sessions, the focus was on building connections and learning alongside one another.

Continuing to Cape Town – this phase of the trip focused on cultural immersion, allowing the group to connect with the city and navigate its famous landscapes, while reflecting on its complex history.

If you’re an educator or chaperone considering a World of Difference program, a site visit is a great way to get a clear and practical overview of our hubs, and the activities and experiences available to your students.

Our Costa Rica team recently hosted a site visit with chaperones from Calgary, giving them a taste of this exciting program. Experiences included:

🌿 Conservation projects: exploring local ecosystems through a mangrove boat tour and participating in a mock turtle nesting beach survey.

🤝 Community development: Visiting local schools where future groups may collaborate, and engaging with community members to better understand the social dynamics of the area.

🧡 Cultural immersion: Taking Spanish lessons, getting hands-on with a traditional cooking class, and learning to make chocolate at a local cacao farm.
