Drew finds joy in volunteering and sharing his love of scuba diving with people with disabilities through Diveheart adaptive scuba training. Through this training, he’s learned essential skills to assist adaptive divers in creating life-changing underwater adventures.

We’re excited to share that Tinamarie Hernandez, Executive Director of Diveheart, will be presenting at Beauty and Brains University (BBU) on June 10 at 6 PM.

Tinamarie will be speaking about how nonprofits need a wide range of skills and how your existing experience and talents can be used to make an impact through purpose-driven work and community involvement.

BBU is a soul-centered digital campus for women becoming—rooted in sisterhood, strategy, and spiritual growth. BBU workshops are typically open only to members, but this semester they’re offering a special opportunity for non-members to experience BBU—no membership required.

Dr Amirul Amzar is a Family Medicine Specialist at UMMC, certified PADI Rescue Diver and Adaptive Support Diver, he's a Divemaster trainee who believes in diving with purpose. With a strong interest in inclusive and adaptive diving, he advocates for broader access to the underwater world while maintaining the importance of safety standards, proper training, preliminary medical screening , and clear risk communication, especially involving non-communicable diseases (NCDs) and fitness to dive.

Drawing from his background in healthcare, education, and public engagement, Dr Amirul views diving as more than recreation. He sees it as a platform for empowerment, resilience, teamwork, and human connection. He is also passionate about marine and environmental conservation, believing that divers should not only explore the ocean, but also protect it. Through medicine and diving, he hopes to build a culture that is safer, more compassionate, and accessible to all.

Robert is gone but his memory will live on through this video which Diveheart plays constantly in the window of our Outreach Center at 5147 Main Street in Downtown Downers Grove We also play the video at every consumer and dive trade show that Diveheart attends. Robert always stops divers in the isle when they see the video of him out of his wheelchair running along the sandy bottom of the ocean in Cozumel Mexico. Robert you maybe gone my friend but will never be forgotten.
