BP IMAGE INSIGHT from the shoreline of Caesarea in Israel where we are reminded that, "the floods have lifted up their voice; the floods lift up their pounding waves. More than the sounds of many waters; more than the mighty breakers of the sea, The LORD on high is mighty" (Psalm 93:3-4).

Jennifer Spredemann once said, "we may not always understand the why, but we can trust the Who." What we know about God is that God He takes no pleasure in wickedness, for there is no evil in Him (Psalm 5:4). He is touched by the feelings of our infirmities (Hebrews 4:14-16).

Like the Psalmist, we can confidently say of God, “You keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in your bottle. You have recorded each one in your book” (Psalm 56:8).

So, while the waters roar and foam, and the mountains move, we will always remember that, "God is our refuge and strength" (Psalm 46:1-3). In the holy habitation of God, "there is a river whose streams make glad the city of God...God is in the midst of her, she shall not be moved" (Psalm 46:4-5).

Have you ever explored the rich history of Jerusalem's temple mount and the prophecy Jesus made about it destruction? Take a look at our latest Bible Passages blog post and the accompanying photographs that complete the story at: https://wix.to/fx8Zpmi

In 1998 it was my first time to see it. Initially it was hard to understand its significance, but at the southwestern corner of Jerusalem's Haram-Al Sharif, known also as the Temple Mount, stands an engineering marvel whose existence forms an important part of Bible history. Towering into the sky so...

An important insight from our BLP photo collection.

BP IMAGE INSIGHT: WE NEED EACH OTHER. According to the Merck Veterinarian Manual sheep have an “intensely gregarious social instinct.”

Sheep absolutely need each other to both survive and thrive. In his article “Social Behavior of Sheep”, veterinarian Gary Landsberg explains that separation and isolation from the flock can cause “severe stress and panic.”

The sheep in our Bible Passages image are Awassi sheep found along the Sorek Valley near Beth Shemesh in Israel. A breed known for its fat tail, coarse wool, and adaptability to harsh conditions are nevertheless dependent upon both the guidance of the Shepherd (whose staff can be seen in the lower right-hand corner of the photograph) and their fellow sheep.

These fascinating animals migrate together, eat together, and are overall highly communal. We should not be surprised, therefore, that God compares us to sheep (Psalm 100:3), and that God commands us to work, worship, and fellowship together.

When we isolate and wander from the flock we become extremely vulnerable to harm and attack, and “stress and panic.”

Other sheep can help to defend us from the ravening wolves of defeatism, faulty thinking and depressive thoughts.

Also, when we surround ourselves with other sheep we are able to see beyond our own personal needs to the needs of others. While you may not think you need others, please remember that others need you.

When we are among the flock we learn to see how the flock needs us. We ourselves are refined in the process as we interact and socialize with others (Proverbs 27:17).

Sheep were meant to be together.
