Spring Sail Training Day 1, Part 2

We had a nice stop over at Hessel Marina; Julie put her nose in some great smelling lilac (her favorite) on our walk to get dessert first - ice cream.
Then our friend Tom, of “Professor Asks a Question”, stopped by for a fun visit before dinner.

Spring Sail Training Day 2
One our way we passed by DeTour Village and saluted our friends on the Boardman, raised four lower sails and saw the DeTour Reef Lighthouse; both sights we see on a Full Day trip.
Then into the open lake heading westward we did our man-overboard drill and rescued a purple balloon.
Winds were at our back, so the crew learned about carefully gybing.
Past the Cedarville Quarry we entered the East entrance to the Les Cheneaux Channel and struck sail. We motored past the splendid sights we see on our 4-day Around and Under trip and tied up at the Hessel Marina for the night.

We start public trips Fathers Day Weekend, in time for you to take Dad (and yourself) sailing!

Happy May! It may be a gray day but we’re excited that the crew is here.
Courtnay and Fern are getting settled into their cabins and eager to learn. We start with knots and coiling lessons, on gray days like today, while regaling them with stories about all the fun we’ll have with our wonderful passengers.
