Yesterday we departed Beaver Island and passed back under the Mackinac Bridge, this time with some highly photogenic (albeit spooky) fog! The wind took as past the south shore of Mackinac Island as we sailed our way towards Hessel, where we spent the night last night. Only one more day left in our Sail Training trip!

It’s been a foggy Wednesday. We departed early from Beaver Island and now approach the Mackinac Bridge even though we can barely see it, so Capt Hugh makes a sécurité call so other vessels will be aware that we will be passing under the Bridge.

Our public first trip for the season is this coming Sunday.

We are underway on our first trip of the season! Our “sail training” trip will take us around Beaver island in Lake Michigan and give our deckhands the opportunity to learn as much as possible before we get the chance to take you out sailing this summer!
Yesterday took us through the Les Cheneaux Islands, and today we had fair winds take us around Mackinac Island and under the beautiful Mackinac Bridge, before we dropped anchor north of St. Ignace. Stay tuned for more updates on our trip!

Schooner Huron Jewel is officially in the water!! 🎉🎉
Since putting her in the marina on Wednesday, we have been doing lots of work aloft putting up all the running rigging, as well as bending on new sails, and we are looking forward to taking you out sailing very soon!
