RECREATION SITES

Pine Valley Ranger District

• Pine Valley – All recreation sites are open


Cedar City Ranger District

• Duck Creek – Closed The recent snow, Reservations will be canceled.
• Panguitch Lake north – Planned opening May 24 may be delayed due to 8” of fresh snow, reservations may be canceled
• Panguitch Lake south – Planned opening May 24 may be delayed due to snow, reservations may be canceled
• White Bridge – May be open with porta-potties and campers may need to bring drinking water.
• Cedar Canyon, Deer Haven, Spruces, Navajo lake and Te-ah will not be open Memorial weekend due to heavy snowpack
• Duck Creek Visitor Center will be closed for Memorial Day weekend due to snow


Powell Ranger District

• Kings Creek and Coyote Hollow – Planned opening May 24
• Red Canyon – Open

Escalante Ranger District

• Barker Recreation Area – No access due to snow, reservations are canceled
• Pine Lake – Planned opening May 24
• Posey Lake – Opening may be delayed, no access due to snow

The Cedar City Ranger District suggests for people looking to camp on Cedar Mountain in dispersed/primitive camping sites to consider looking for lower elevation camping opportunities for Memorial Day Weekend.

Due to heavy winter snowpack and recent snow expected through the end of the week it will be difficult to find a campsite that is dry and most forest roads are still closed by snow.

If you do travel to Cedar Mountain and decide to travel off of the paved roads you may find yourself stuck in the mud and unable to get out. Please respect these areas during the late spring melt off by not damaging or rutting these wet areas at this time by driving on the saturated roadways and meadows.

ST. GEORGE— A winter storm watch has been issued for the Southern Utah area beginning Wednesday evening, which could bring 3-6 inches of snow to St. George and Zion National Park and even more in the central and southern mountains.
