We bought this house unseen, however, we FaceTimed to see it before that was the norm! I was with Emma getting her pointe shoes for ballet so Keith did the call with Sarah Regan Spencer (our forever realtor and friend). And Keith knew within moments this house was a keeper!
The irony in that is that Keith was appeasing me by even considering. Fast forward and he is the one who said- we gotta find a way to get it. This is a reoccurring pattern in our realty behavior- one of us is all in, the other is not and it inevitably flips during the process over and over.
Why I love this house?
It was actually a lived in home well before it became a rental- and it shows. The upstairs feels like a home- tons fo light, open kitchen (which is tough in this floor plan), custom carpentry trim and open air cottage vibe. It is a great home for 1-2 families (depending on how much you like each other). It is our only house that has an epic fire pit with electric run out to it for lighting - I do have a twinkle light obsession.
And guess what it is right next door to Salty Soul Beach House- Duck, NC OBX. I love that.
And that is a wrap. 2024 ends with thankfulness to you all for supporting us as we do this gig of rental homes. We are so darn lucky and sincerely say THANK YOU.
Bring on 2025. Let’s fill it with all the good stuff including more beach trips!

2024 has been a long, long year already. As we officially wrap up another great season with Salty Beach Houses it seemed like it as time to once again give something back.
And that means…. FREE VACATION WEEK CONTEST!
It’s simple. Just send us a recommendation for someone who deserves a week free at one of our beach homes. The weeks available to choose from will include for first time ever- HOLIDAY weeks in 2024. As well as pre-season 2025. We will work with the winner to find a date that works.

Welcome to our page! We are a family of 7- Jennie & Keith and our 5 kids. We married in 2013 and became known as the Salty 7 as we all don't have the same last name. Many think Salty comes from our love of the beach but in reality it's from Matthew 5:13 (You are the salt of the earth).
Salty Sister has a great story of how she came to be. In Aug 2017 we purchased our first home in Duck- Salty 7 (named for our family). One year later after a great first season we texted our realtor jokingly saying find us another one as it had gone so well.
Fast forward one month and we purchased this special house. First, it's in the same neighborhood our family has always vacationed. Second, the house is unique- tons of woodworking details and a beachy cottage vibe. We named her Salty Sister as she's the little sister of 7- same beach house feel but smaller.
We updated the space for families who want bright colors, glimpses of ocean and amazing light throughout. There are personal touches all over that give you a peek of who we are- the colors are bright and fun, lots of space at the pool to spend long afternoons, splashes of orange because Jennie’s a Hokie and a well stocked kitchen to eat in and enjoy meals together.
We cherish what we've created and hope you find it as special as we do. Duck is a gem in the Outer Banks. From Salty Sister you can walk to everything. Sunsets on the Duck boardwalk are a few minutes away. Great food all over and sunrises worth waking up for every trip.
