Tappahannock’s first-ever Rise and Fall Festival is coming to the Essex County Museum & Historical Society September 25–27.

Inspired by the meaning of Tappahannock—“town on the rise and fall of the water”—the weekend will celebrate the people, history, traditions, and culture shaped by the Rappahannock River and Virginia’s Tidewater region.

Enjoy live music, local authors, walking tours, historical presentations, craft and book fairs, the VA250 Mobile Museum, and a special Saturday night performance by Grammy Award-winning musician Dom Flemons.

Most events are free to attend, with reserved seating available for select performances.
