Alex came to us back in March with a strong itch to fly and we’re proud to say we scratched it. Through sheer dedication, traveling from Telluride and even making trips back and forth from the West Coast to ensure he flew at least once a week, Alex put in the work to make this moment happen.

The Robinson R44 is a key part of our training fleet here at Colorado Highland Helicopters.

Its performance, visibility, and responsive controls make it an excellent platform for students learning the foundations of rotorcraft flight—as well as those advancing into commercial, CFI, or high-elevation operations.

Training in the R44 allows students to experience a well-balanced aircraft that demands attention to detail and solid technique—skills that carry over into any helicopter they fly next. Whether it’s autorotations, confined area work, or just building confidence in complex terrain, this aircraft gets plenty of meaningful use in our program.

Because we don’t train in a vacuum—we train in the real world. And that means giving students time in aircraft that challenge and teach them, every flight.
