🥜 Happy National Peanut Day from Durant! 🥜

Did you know Durant is home to the famous World’s Largest Peanut monument?

Standing outside Durant City Hall, the monument was dedicated in 1974 in honor of the Bryan County peanut growers and processors. At the time, peanuts were an important part of the local agricultural economy, and the monument was created to celebrate the people and industry that helped shape our community.

More than 50 years later, the peanut remains one of Durant’s most recognizable landmarks and a favorite stop for visitors and residents alike. Whether you grew up here or are just passing through, chances are you have a picture with the peanut! 📸

Today, we want to see them! Stop by the peanut at City Hall, snap a photo, and send your favorite pictures to [email protected]. We’d love to see Durant through your eyes and share some of our community’s favorite peanut memories!
