One of the most common questions I get from clients planning a Walt Disney World vacation is:
โShould I be worried about refurbishments happening at my resort?โ
The short answer? Usually, no.
Disney is constantly updating and improving its resorts, which is actually a good thing for future guests. Most refurbishments are designed to have minimal impact on vacations, and many guests donโt even notice them during their stay.
Hereโs what you should know:
โจ Resort pools almost always remain open
โจ Construction is typically limited to daytime hours
โจ Disney does a great job keeping walkways, transportation, dining, and amenities operating normally
โจ Refurbishments are often building-by-building, not resort-wide
That said, there are a few situations where itโs worth paying closer attention:
โข If the main pool will be closed during your trip
โข If you plan to spend a lot of resort time relaxing
โข If you booked a resort specifically for a feature being refurbished such as the skyliner transportation system
In most cases, refurbishments should not stop you from booking a resort you love. Walt Disney World is always evolving, and many updates lead to refreshed rooms, improved dining spaces, and even better guest experiences.
When I help clients plan their vacations, I always keep current refurbishment schedules in mind and make sure there are no major surprises before booking.
