Long Island historian and lifelong Strong’s Neck resident Margo Arceri, is the creator of the ultimate walking, biking and kayaking tour called "Tri-Spy.” Ms. Arceri developed this unique historical venture in conjunction with the Three Village Historical Society, where she was a former vice president and secretary. Having grown up in Strong’s Neck, Margo spent time with local historian Kate Wheel

er Strong, descendant of the famous Anna Smith Strong of the Culper Spy Ring. Kate, who was also the author of a series of booklets entitled True Tales of the Early Days on Long Island, shared stories from the American Revolution and the Battle of Long Island. Margo was instantly hooked, and thus began her own quest to search the hidden trails of Strong’s Neck and Setauket where the British and Patriots once roamed. Arceri to get involved with the Three Village Historical Society where she was also a committee chairperson for walking tours, a Young American’s camp director, and a school program presenter specializing in local history. Arceri served as a historical consultant in 2007-2008 for the book Ghosts of Long Island II: More Stories of the Paranormal by Kerriann Flanagan Brosky, which featured stories about Strong’s Neck, Setauket and the Culper Spy Ring. Margo is currently a partner in the screenplay development of Redcoats and Petticoats, a children’s book about the Culper Spy Ring by Katherine Kirkpatrick. As former president of the Strong's Neck Civic Association, Margo Arceri continues to live along the shoreline of Strong’s Neck where she brings Long Island’s Revolutionary War history to life.

Uncle Sam, the iconic personification of the United States, originated from a real person named Samuel Wilson, a meat packer from Troy, New York. During the War of 1812, Wilson supplied barrels of beef to the U.S. Army, which he stamped with "U.S." to indicate government property. The soldiers, however, jokingly referred to the meat as "Uncle Sam's," and this nickname eventually stuck, evolving into the symbol of the United States.

On July 3, 1776, John Adams wrote a letter to his wife, Abigail, reflecting on the Continental Congress's decision to declare independence from Great Britain. While the resolution for independence was approved on July 2nd, the formal declaration was adopted on July 4th. Adams initially believed July 2nd would be the day celebrated as Independence Day, but it was the Fourth of July that became the official date of celebration.

On July 2, 1776, the Continental Congress voted in favor of Richard Henry Lee's resolution for independence from Great Britain, with the New York delegation abstaining according to History.com. While the formal Declaration of Independence was adopted two days later on July 4th, the vote on July 2nd marked the actual decision to declare independence.
