I had an opportunity to try Tavern 203 in Nevis this weekend. I’ve heard good things from family and so I thought we’d give it a try. We wanted to start off with the scotch eggs, but they were not temporarily available so we had the fried pickles which came very quickly. I am a pickle fan by nature and the fried pickles were good. They came with a spicy sauce which was a find complement but a little too spicy so we got an order ranch dressing as well. My understanding is the pickles are a little thicker than they used to be, but I was fine with what we got.

Shortly after getting the appetizer we placed our order for entrées. Unfortunately, this is where things deteriorated, apparently due to problems in the kitchen. The entrées were delayed by 30-45 minutes. We eventually got a side salad and a Caesar salad. Neither salad was anything special, but nurishing. The artichoke pizza finally came and was quite good. The pizza was an artichoke and spinach paste base with chicken, caramelized onions, and mozzarella on top. This was hot and flavors a lot of artichoke, chicken, caramelized onion, and mozzarella were all distinct. The tavern burger that came next was plentiful and tasted good, but was slightly overdone from the temperature requested. The tater tots with the burger were warm, but could have definitely been hotter.

The service throughout was mostly attentive, but clearly struggling with the kitchen service issues and didn’t have much to tell us through most of the meal. The restaurant was busy but not overcrowded and they had plenty of seating so I don’t think this service is typical and I think we got there on a bad day. Had we been given an option a half hour into our seating we might’ve skipped the entrées and just ordered more appetizers if they had been quicker.

Wonderful new bistro with small bites and pastries you’ll love.

My niece suggested we would try this local new restaurant for breakfast and it was a big hit. I’m always up for trying something new and they had a lot of wonderful things to offer.

The four of us started with crêpes. The classic crêpe with eggs, bacon and Swiss was enjoyable, but probably needed some pizzazz or maybe it was just overshadowed by the other choices. I went for the Bordeaux, which was like a turkey cheese wrap. The brie was just melting in your mouth. The spark of other flavors came from the grapes and walnuts on the side.

We also tried the Monte Cristo, which provided a nice savory flavor from the ham and cheese. It with topped with jam that provided some sweetness. It was quite good.

The last crêpe was a banana, cinnamon and peanut butter combo. This provided all the flavors you’d expect. That could be a great dessert option for anybody.

The only problem was they have a host of fresh baked pastries to fill that dessert option as well. I didn’t take a picture of what we ordered, but I should have. They had a rhubarb bar with a light cream frosting. It was enjoyable but for me, I’d like a little more rhubarb for tartness, but that’s just a personal preference. We also tried an almond bar that was firm and flavorful which definitely satisfied that almond desire. There was a raspberry Crumble cookie that is a good takeaway option. It was a firm cookie with the raspberry flavor. I saved the best for last which was the raspberry flip. This was kind of a croissant pastry that was soft and pillowy with a raspberry and cream filling that was full of raspberry flavor and creamy goodness. This was definitely Kraveworthy.

They have a wonderful selection of coffee and hot teas. I really enjoyed the peach mango tea, which I wanted on ice, but actually was more enjoyable just cooling in the glass. The serving dishes for the tea was exceptional with your with your own tray with a carafe of tea brewing the cup and spoon was just delightful. The reports I got on the Mocha coffee was light on sweeting and topped with mocha. Frodo coffee had a caramel flavor that was rich but not sweet.

We also enjoyed the drink which was pomegranate and raspberry juice with orange soda, and I believe raspberry Boba pearls. I’ve become a real fan of Boba tea, and this was light and fruity.

By this time we were full, so I had to get the Filo dough and pistachio bar to go. More news on that later.

The restaurant itself is very inviting and spacious with most of the cooking stations on one side of the restaurant and seating on the other side. The seating is mostly tables with one seating area with upholstered chairs in a sofa. They also have a wonderfully styled bathroom, which seems odd for me to review, but it’s definitely worth a visit even if just to look for a remodeling idea.

The staff was so pleasant and helpful and happy to share information about the menu and their short time in Aberdeen. I can’t say enough good things about this visit but I certainly tried. I hope you’ll give them a try as well.

a most interesting menu with a number of exciting choices, some a little spicy. Excellent Guacamole. Nice mix and match tacos, preferred the shrimp BLT and chicken Tinga; bison was a little hot. Pork Al Pastor Durango bowl was another great choice. The room noise was a bit excessive, rated as loud by Soundprint.

great lunch at Rendezvous Lodge and Steamboat Resort for the second. day. Day 1 was a tasty salad with smoked Trout, almonds, candied bacon and much more. It was a great set of flavors. Day 2 was a half Reuben sandwich with the Norwegian seafood soup. Well worth the stop.

My first day of skiing in the 3023-24 season. Spent the day at Okemo in Vermont. the weather was a comfortable 30° to start. it was cloudy with some occasional rays of sun. The snow was incredible, particularly for early December. it was well groomed with reasonable depth, I only saw two runs with the snow is turning brown, and still fairly well covered. I don’t remember it being this good this early in the season. I’ve gotten so much natural snow. There is even a glade open. some of the lower runs were almost like mashed potatoes towards the end of the day. There were a lot of people out, but still definitely runs that were quiet. I’m a happy boy.
