Logan Kinei Logan Kinei Nature Experiences on Cape Cod take you on a nature hike through various trails at the Cape Cod National Seashore! It simply becomes and is healthy.

We are using mobility, breathing, meditation, and discussion as practices for you to perform self inquiry, self realization, and recognize awareness. Each practice has a purpose of getting closer to this source. First, you will learn to recognize your awareness. Then you will learn to come in and out of the awareness. The ultimate progression of meditation is to let go of all focuses and stand in

awareness at all times. All of our teachings are helping you work towards this state. This is a process that takes a lot of personal work, self reflection, and accountability. However, you will absolutely feel the incredible effects of each session. We will absolutely help guide and teach you along the way. The sessions start with mobility followed by breathing; always with the overall intention to improve your awareness and relationship with your body-mind. Your body-mind is how you experience the environment or world around you. The more aware of your body you become, the less of a priority it becomes. The body (and movement) lives in awareness and you can draw your attention to it or away from it based on the experience of the moment or your intentions. This is wellness and the mind-body at its purest form. You are in love with your body and your body is at peace and happy with you. This a progression that happens when knowledge becomes understanding and feeling and sensations become awareness

Logan Kinei Mobility and Breathing will work together to enhance stress control, energy, creativity, spirituality (whatever that may mean to you), while reducing inflammation. With the meditation, you are simply working to let go. We will guide you with intention to get closer to the source. We finish with a Q&A Discussion. This is where you put your entire experience together. We all open up to each other and gain a deeper understanding.

Needed some time with her today. Beautiful.

A little reflecting and being. Food Forests, we need to get these going and spreading. Got work to do to get others on board and make it happen! The ocean agrees.

Help us plant community or private food forests all over the Cape! Each town should have at least one community food forest. Everyone and everything benefits.

My astounding wife has had the opportunity to recently join the .compass real estate team!

When we decided to move to the Cape last year, Kait left her corporate retail operations manager position and decided to switch paths to real estate. She loves finding the character in spaces and places that give people the feels that we can’t quite explain but know when it’s right. The connection between you and the home and that area of Earth.

She’ll primarily be focusing on Chatham, Orleans, Eastham, Wellfleet, and Truro! She has a true connection to the Outer Cape, having spent summers here her entire life.

Give her a follow and watch her new path take shape! She’s amazing at seeing the true potential in spaces, not only as they are and . She’s an incredibly sweet, kind, honest, thoughtful, caring, loving, bold, and insightfully beautiful person.

“In essence, we can choose to apply self-regulation to consumption and growth, or else nature will ultimately do it for us — in the form of epidemics, disasters, or famine. Luckily, we have a capacity for independent thought that goes way beyond instinct. We alone in the animal kingdom can actively choose to regulate our own growth and consumption, which will increase the stability of our systems and avoid boom-and-bust cycles.

This is where the concept of carrying capacity becomes important. Carrying capacity is the max number of individuals of a species that can be supported by a given environment. When the population is below carrying capacity, it tends to grow; when it passes carry capacity, it starts to decline. We must understand a site’s baseline carrying capacity and then either work within that carrying capacity or design ways to increase it. Either way, understand and modifying our expectations around growth and consumptions are first steps toward sustainable living.”

(3 of 3) So, instead of a lawn, we actually have many options - all which can include keeping a small portion of lawn to run around on. Depending on your property, the best options are a food forest, garden, meadow, or a combo of some sort — focused on perennials.

Swipe to learn how changing your lawn into a meadow can make a HUGE difference.

In my quest to learn more and work with the Earth, I recently began working with Edible Landscapes Cape Cod. If you want to change your lawn into a meadow, food forest, or garden, OR if you have any questions about how to transform your property into a carbon sequestering food propagating perennial permaculture oasis reach out!

And/or read this great book from where all of this information is sourced (mixed in with my own thoughts) - Lawns into Meadows: Growing a Regenerative Landscape, by Owen Wormser.

(1 of 3) “Homeowners use up to 10X more chemicals per acre than farmers do, according to the US Fish and Wildlife Service.”

Lawns are a huge issue for the Earth and all of life on it.

Lawns make up more than 63,000 square miles, about the size of Washington State. By another measure, over 40 million acres of land in the continental US were found to have some form of lawn on it.

This makes the lawn the largest irrigated crop grown in the US.

Landscape irrigation accounts for nearly 1/3 of all residential water use — 9 billion gallons per day or 13,500 Olympic-sized swimming pools worth of water. 😱

Swipe to learn more about the issues caused by a lawn.

As individuals, we have the ability and power to change the world, if we work together by doing our part individually. Something as simple as losing the idea that a lawn is important in any way is one of those things. Swipe to read about how an individual/family with a lawn make a huge impact, good or bad, on the climate.

Sustainable is not good enough. Sustaining what we now have is not going to work. We have to be regenerative. We have to change the way things are done and do our part to allow nature to regenerate.

With our actions and choices, we have to always be thinking:
How is this giving back to nature?
What is this going to do to nature - is it going to fight it? Or is it going to be in line with it?

Soil, air, ocean, and energy of life.

With that, we can change our current course. We can change everything.

Nature will come back - we have to allow it time to regenerate. We have to back off.

How far back do “native” plants go? Don’t plants change and move location by all species of life, wind, water, movement of land and glaciers? Does it make sense to say that only plants that were here when the colonists arrived or even when the first indigenous peoples are “native”? That would cut out billions of years of plant life.

It seems as though nature knows what it is doing, more so than we do. Humans are also part of nature so that can’t be overlooked, and if we brought a plant somewhere that seems to be taking over, we should exam and understand that.

Many of the “invasive” plants are the first and fastest to grow when nature is taking back over - whether it be abandoned farmland, house or building, or anything else.

Maybe we should start looking at “invasive” plants differently. If nature is growing them, there is likely a reason. If plants are growing that thrive off of MORE carbon, then it’s probably natures way of helping the Earth, and us.

Foods that are considered invasive may be there because of our lack of general nutrition in the foods the majority of people consume regularly. Maybe an area doesn’t have enough diversity so nature is adding diversity.

Do “Invasive” plants tend to be invasive in a healthy forest?

Maybe nature is trying to tell us something, trying to help us.

I find it helpful to understand that clearing the Earth of plant life/forests has been happening since the first colonist set foot on this land. They were doing it with the purpose to change the climate hundreds of years ago and it did! And now we continue to do it and the climate continues to change, and we added a whole bunch of other bad stuff.

We can stop this, collectively we can stop our current trend and reverse it.

We do this through listening to, observing, and working with nature. Not against it.

We do this through regenerative or restoration agriculture on medium and small farms. Building permaculture and food forests at our homes, in our communities, at our schools. By doing so, we create more local nutrient dense food, reduce green house gas emissions, and increase plant life which also takes carbon out of the atmosphere, increases water and solar absorption into the soil/ground.

We do this through reducing destruction of wildlife, on land and sea. Less mass production, less consumerism, less material spending and frivolous destruction of life for fleeting moments of joy or power.

More permanent consistent joy and beauty comes from reestablishing our connection with nature.

Those are some of the ways we can all help our planet and life on it - mine, yours, all humans included.

We must start reversing climate change. Save the ocean. Save the forests. Save the Earth.

Did you know that one of the major reasons for deforestation is for agriculture and livestock to meet the rising demand for food? Did you know that one to two acres of rainforests are cleared every second for animal rearing and agriculture? (How livestock farming affects the environment, Downtoearth.org.in)

That rise in demand is for livestock products, not because we are running out of food. We already produce enough food to feed about 10 billion (actually reports of producing this much food goes back to 2012 and is still reported today), and we are at a population of about 7.8 billion now. It’s not a food shortage problem. Our problem is demand for certain products AND that the mass amount food produced is nutrient-deficient.

Deforestation in itself is extremely detrimental and torturous to humans, Earth, and all of life on it. It is a huge reason why people started to move West in the 1800s — actually it was used as a political ploy to get people to move West in search of more resources after pretty much deforesting the Northeast and East Coast.

Forests are the natural habitat of more than 70 percent of the world’s plant and animal species. Many species of animals and plants are becoming extinct, or on the brink of extinction because of deforestation.

The world still deforests 15 billion trees every year. Since the beginning of human civilization, the global tree count has fallen by 46 percent. And warming trends are increasing drought risk and shrinking geographic ranges for trees.” (The first American settlers cut down millions of trees to deliberately engineer climate change, by Stephanie Buck - timeline.com, Aug. 2017)
