The second part of my recent trip Chile was a conference with the Adventure Travel Trade Association which endeavors protect natural and cultural heritage while creating economic value. Participants come from around the world and represent not only travel advisors but also media, tour operators, and tourism boards among others.
Highlights of the week?
1) A 20km hike to a stunning vista of the Torres del Paine mountains, voted the Eight wonder of the World. Letsgoexperience.cl and made it a super fun and thrilling day!
2)Spontaneously fly fishing with Natales flyfishing and who made the day memorable on newly opened streams for fishing about 30 mins off road. We met and lunched with the estancia owner who is transforming 2 homes on the property to be used as fishing lodging. Thanks Diego!
3)Enjoying traditional grilled lamb and a celebrity classic rock band at the luxury resort a gorgeous newly renovated lodge located within the Torres del Paine Nat’l park in the shadow of one of the world’s most dramatic mountain backdrops.
Keynote speaker Kristine Tompkins, together with her late husband, Douglas (founder of ) have conserved more than 2 million acres of land in Chile and Argentina. Among their newest projects is the Jaguar Rivers Initiative, an international effort to create a large wildlife corridor along the continent's rivers.
I met so many wonderful people I look forward to working with in the future to introduce travelers to the beauty of not only Chile, but many iconic parts of South America.
