We love our SunCatcher tribe!!

Every guest we have had in our sweet SGI beach house has loved her as their own during their stay and for that we are truly blessed!
From kitchen appliances to beach equipment to home decor, the thank you gifts have been simply wonderful! ❤️

Our latest gift was totally amazing, truly unique, and a work of art! Imagine our surprise when gifted with this hand pieced, one of a kind, stunning quilt! ❤️❤️
We arrived in March to find a lil something in a gift bag from one of our repeat guests.
Apparently, this dear Iowa lady is a master quilter and worked up a piece dedicated to her new found happy place, St George Island!

We are honored to display our beautiful quilt in our East bedroom, now lovingly nicknamed, "Lori's Quiltroom"
I hope you all join me in taking a moment to appreciate her lovely work. The center panel reflects the sweetest parts of SGI and the quilting itself is in a shell pattern!

Hoping you get a chance to see this lovely piece in person during your stay on SGI 😍

Our last evening on the island and I'm always so sad to be leaving our happy place!
But...so many happy memories continue to be made while in our sweet SunCatcher ❤️
Family and friends joined us for their first visits during this trip and absolutely fell in love with SGI. This charming little island continues to delight newcomers with its' quiet beauty.

Updates continue as we shift gears into Summer 2021.
The master bedroom got a new coat of paint, we added a lovely deep rattan chair to the reading porch, and gave the front decking some attention. Amazing what a power wash and teak oil can do! New exterior lighting adds a touch of charm, too!

As many of you know, our family has had to deal with a significant health crisis and thus are scaling back rentals. Don & I will be spending as much time as possible on the island, but will continue with a few rentals as time allows.
Please feel free to contact me for more information!

Hope to see you on da island! 😊🌴🐬☀️🦀

Good Morning from SunCatcher of SGI!

Suddenly it is mid NOVEMBER(!) and we are wrapping up our 2020 rental season! What a long strange year it was, one filled with changes and uncertainty!
One thing we can count on, though, is the steadfast beauty of our sweet island. Sunrise to sunset; we love the bright sunny days, a full moon glowing over the water or stunning starry nights. And of course, I'm partial to the amazing clouds out over the Gulf!
A quiet meal at a local venue, a relaxing beach day with a good book and the company of shorebirds or some time on the deck raising a glass to toast the close another day make for a perfect escape from worries.

We hope 2021 brings us all brighter days, but for now here are a couple of moments from August...

Hi All! It has been a long, strange Spring, to say the least, but most things on SGI are starting to feel a bit more normal! We had a lovely visit earlier this month to complete some routine Spring maintenance and managed to squeeze in some much needed R&R as well. We power washed everything outside, deep cleaned the inside, walked and rode all over the island, visited our favorite outdoor eateries, grabbed a couple of 'to go' meals from others, visited with friends, strolled the beach, and shelled every day.
Sunrises...sunsets...home cooked meals...quiet and relaxation. Heavenly!

It was truly difficult to stay off the beach at the beginning of our visit; I was SO thankful that the beach opened for morning and evening walking shortly after our arrival. Then, during the last week of our stay, the beaches opened for regular enjoyment/activities. Shortly after that the area was granted a provisional lifting of the prior rental ban.
With that being said, we are pleased that our sweet SunCatcher is now open for summer rentals. We will run an every other week schedule of availability to give our home a week of downtime in between occupancies. This will allow for our housekeeper to complete a normal cleaning followed by time for any virus to dissipate. Our 3 bed/2 bath, pet free home will be ready for you! Enjoy a bit of 'self isolation' and relax on our wide front deck or stroll the beach. Sunshine and fresh air are just what the doctor ordered! LOL

**Please bring your masks and hand sanitizer if interested in patronizing any of our local venues. Shopping and dining is now open with limitations; personal precautions are required!**

Please check our listing on Emerald Coast by Owner
https://emeraldcoastbyowner.com/property/florida/st-george-island/east-gulf-beaches/2423 for our limited availability!
Hope to see you on the island!

Happy New Year!
So very excited for 2020 and a new rental season!
Last year was a banner year for our sea turtle activity and the addition of green sea turtle nesting activity made it all the more fun!
St George Island is dedicated to preserving nesting habit; May 1st marks the beginning of our nesting season with the official conclusion being October 31st.
Here's the official count for 2019 from our St George Island Volunteer Turtlers website:

Snow fell last night in Iowa with more expected in the next 24hrs so let's think of warm & wonderful things!
Our October visit did not last nearly as long as I would have liked, but then again it never does! Seems like we get there, blink, and then it's time to leave!! LOL
But as always, we are "a force of nature" while on island thus we packed a lot of work on and in the house during our stay. Balancing that with relaxtion, socializing, and actual employment is easy when the days are warm, the sun is bright, and Gulf sand is between your toes!

SunCatcher got a fresh coat of exterior paint to cover the weird shade of plum created by sun fade. The front deck and stairs were recoated in our signature Newport blue too!
Next up on the paint parade: laundry room ceiling and doors with more to follow! Oh, then I painted chairs and outdoor tables to match the entry doors...yes, got a little cray cray with paint brushes!! LOL
The jungle was pushed back, driveway cleared once again, and dune fence placed on the east side of our lot...feel free to make a wish and hang a shell or two while there!
We freshened and cleaned the outdoor cushions and furniture and created a new 'parking spot' under the house with our breast cancer charity auction chairs!
The inside experienced some change too, as we installed the new Samsung stainless kitchen appliances to compliment the Whirlpool washer & dryer added in July! Carpets were cleaned, area rugs taken out for a wash, new art work hung...lots of freshening throughout!

So now SunCatcher is looking rather spiffy and ready for guests! We look forward to the 2020 rental season and hope you choose to visit!!
Please contact me for a discount on your rental as a reward for reading this windy post...first time as well as repeaters will enjoy some savings!!

Hope to see you on da island!!

What?! 2019 is half over?!
We've had a wonderful first half of the year and our guests agree island time on SGI is THE best time, but flies oh so quickly!
We spent May on the island plus have had quite a few guests staying in SunCatcher.
Relaxing has been the primary focus of all, but everyone has had fun! Our guests have enjoyed beach time, good food & drink, live music, shopping, boating & shore fishing, sightseeing, full moon lighthouse climb, horseback riding, even a beach wedding!
From first time in the gulf water to kites in the air one can count on great memories being made on St George Island ❤

I've added some guest photos and one from my turtle patrol friend Kimberly; she had the amazing opportunity to watch nesting momma turtle...not once, but twice in one week!!
