The old jail in Downtown Eatonton has been closed on as of Monday & is set to be transformed into a hotel! With everything from a rooftop bar to experiential themed rooms, The Joliet is guaranteed to be one of Eatonton’s newest hotspots. Another excuse to 🤩

Spring Break is right around the corner and we want to make sure you are prepared! From sunny lake days to fun learning experiences, Eatonton has it all. Here are 4 family friendly Spring Break activities that we think you should check out: ☀️

🏡 The Historic Walking Tour: Enjoy the fresh Spring air and take a walk around Downtown Eatonton for a look at historic houses and buildings dating all the way back to the 1800s! (Be sure to grab a map at the Eatonton-Putnam Welcome Center)
🌳 Explore the Effigies: Eatonton has two effigies, Rock Eagle and Rock Hawk. Each offer trails for hiking/biking and stops along the way for you to learn about the history of the effigy.
📚 Visit the Museums: The Georgia Writer's Museum, Old School History Museum and Uncle Remus Museum are top hits for history buffs looking to take a look into the past.
🌊 Picnic at Lake Oconee: Lake Oconee is one of the most popular attractions in the area, especially when the warmer weather rolls around. Spend Spring Break at Lake Oconee where you can picnic, rent a boat, go fishing, and more!

Feeling the need for fresh air? Go for a bike ride downtown or find one of Eatonton’s many trails to get your steps in. 🚲👟

Looking for more of a relaxing day outdoors? Grab a basket and a blanket and find a nice sunny spot at one of our Effigies for a picnic. 🧺

Or if you’re longing for that summer thrill, take it to the lake! Rent a boat or kayak and float out on one of Eatonton’s beautiful lakes. Both Lake Oconee and Lake Sinclair are ideal for a summer-esque day. 🛶🌞
