Ok, where are the Southern Illinois Adventure ‘Bucky’ fans??? Who is Bucky, you ask??? He’s the one and only Richard Buckminster Fuller! https://www.bfi.org/

Bucky is the architect of multiple geodesic dome structures, some even in our very own ‘backyard’. And by ‘backyard’ I mean the SIUE campus. Located on the SIUE campus is one of Bucky’s domes, home to the Center of Spirituality & Sustainability. https://www.fullerdome.org/.

Make plans to visit the Fuller Dome and take in the fantastic workmanship of Bucky. While visiting the dome one can also enjoy Soul Sunday, Sacred Rebel Wednesday, a trip through their gallery, or participate in some of their special events. Pocahontas, IL is a MUST SEE for anyone who has a heart for antiques!!! Pocahontas is proudly part of the Barn Quilt Trail, and the home to country music star, Gretchen Wilson.

The Mercantile has the BEST pastries and ice cream parlor. Engage the owners of the Mercantile in a conversation about their great building and you will learn some fun facts about the building and town of Pocahontas. While visiting make sure to stop by the Flea Market in the church around the corner from the Mercantile.

When it’s lunch time there are three great choices; The Fainting Goat, the Powhatan Diner, and Funderburk’a Gas & Diner.

If you missed it today, you still have a chance to enjoy the SIU Maple Syrup Festival tomorrow!!! Take advantage of this perfect weather. And, did you know...that it takes 40 gallons 😮 of tapped maple sap to make 1, yes 1, gallon of pure, true maple syrup. Wow! Makanda's Flyway Family Farms is there also with their mushrooms! Lots of good food, too!
