This spring, something special is taking root at J. Strom Thurmond Lake — literally.

Forest, Fish, and Wildlife Staff and volunteers joined forces to transplant maidencane this season, a native aquatic grass, along vulnerable shoreline areas.

Maidencane acts as nature’s shoreline armor. Its dense roots hold soil in place, reducing erosion from waves and boat traffic. As it grows, it creates vital habitat for young fish, amphibians, and aquatic insects — the very base of the lake’s food web.

Mayflies are nature’s neon sign for the start of fishing season. These fragile little bugs only live for a day or two, but while they’re here everything in the water is after them. We must have had a giant set of hatches release because they are all over the walls at - we live for this time of year, where the woods and waters of are filled with magical creatures and meals around every corner!

Getting ready to decorate another house and need some input from people who rent Airbnbs / Vrbo homes.

Trying to stay more masculine with this one, there will be grey walls in every room.. the house is going to be called the “Flock and Feather Retreat” and will be decorated around bird hunting. The room decor chosen is loosely based around what colors, tones and style of decor we hope to accent it with.
