The Eagle Cap Excursion Train is a scenic train that operates on the Wallowa Union Railroad in the northeast corner of Oregon. See schedule on website.

The Eagle Ca Excursion Train operates out of the Elgin Depot in Elgin, Oregon (20 miles north of La Grande on Oregon Highway 82, also known as the Wallowa Lake Highway and a portion of the Hells Canyon Scenic Byway, www.hellscanyonbyway.com). Train rides depart from the Elgin Depot and travel down the Grande Ronde River, across the bridge at Rondowa, and a few miles up the Wallowa River. Most excu

rsions include lunch, served on the train during the ride. There are also special event trains, such as the annual Mother's Day Brunch, train robberies conducted by the High Country Outlaws, and the Minam Bonus, which goes all the way to Minam and back. It looks like it will be a great day to enjoy our beautiful scenery from the comfort of a passenger train and good weather for taking photos. Bring a sweater or jacket and be ready to aim the camera into the woods, in case you see a large creature staring back at you! The Eagle Cap Excursion Train’s Seeking Bigfoot ride offers fun encounters with the legend. Bigfoot is coming out of the forest May 30 (and again August 1 for Elgin’s Bigfoot Festival). Other upcoming rides include Two Rivers on June 6; a Minam Bonus ride, June 20; and a shorter Grande Ronde Special, July 1. I'm told the white pelicans are back on the Grande Ronde River. The beautiful big birds can be seen from the Eagle Cap Excursion Train as it follows the river north from Elgin to where it is joined by the Wallowa River. What a great start to the season! We have two full trains for Mother's Day weekend, and a long waiting list in case of cancellations. If you are considering taking Dad for a train ride on Father's Day weekend, we suggest you get your reservations right away. The High Country Outlaws rides are very popular and especially so when falling on a holiday weekend.
We look forward to another fun and successful season and thank our passengers and all of the dedicated folks who keep this train on track! Pun intended!

Our fall season got under way to an amazing start today! There are four rides in September and five in October, but some rides are already sold out, so don't delay in making your reservations. It's a beautiful time of year for a train ride beside the rivers of northeast Oregon.

Thank you to everyone (passengers, crew, volunteers, caterer) who made the spring/summer season a big success! We take a break during the hot dry part of summer and start again with a fun train robbery on Saturday, August 30. Get the details and book your seats online at www.eaglecaptrainrides.com. Fall season has ten scheduled rides, ending with the popular Minam Bonus on October 25. Book now and enjoy the fall colors along the route.

Our fall season begins with a train robbery, Saturday, August 30. The fun starts when robbers on horseback flag down the train and come on board! Seats are available, so book soon.
