Check out these gorgeous hardwood floors at the historic Plumpton-Peters House (built in 1840)! But here's the plot twist: these floorboards are actually older than the house itself.

The Story Behind the Wood:

1700s Origins: The floorboards date all the way back to the 1700s, originating from an earlier home owned by the Pool family.

Architectural Twins: The original house where these floors came from was built using the exact same design as the Plumpton-Peters home—just on a larger scale!

A Timeless Addition: When the addition was built onto the back of the Plumpton-Peters House, these historic 18th-century floorboards were brought in to complete the space.

Standing on over two centuries of history never looked so good.

🔥 A Glimpse Into the Past… 🏡

As we continue restoring The Historic Pool-Lumsden-Peters House, every room seems to reveal another piece of its story.

This large fireplace opening is located in what is believed to have been the original kitchen of the home, dating back to around 1840. Before modern appliances, this may have been where meals were prepared over an open fire. Later, it may have even housed a cast-iron wood-burning cookstove connected to the home’s large chimney.

Imagine generations gathered here as meals were cooked, bread was baked, water was heated, and family stories were shared around the warmth of the hearth.

One of the most exciting parts of restoring a historic home is uncovering these hidden pieces of history and imagining what life was like nearly two centuries ago.
