Important Information regarding the buoyed “lanes” in Newbegun Creek ⚠️

Lane lines in Newbegun Creek?!

Removable buoyed lane lines were installed last weekend by the same professionals who install at US Rowing venues and World Rowing venues, including the Olympics!

The cable system that creates each lane line is submerged by 4 feet. It's safe to operate personal water craft between the buoys and in and out of lanes! They are NOT swim lanes where the cable floats on the surface under tension.

We have EVSRA Championships this weekend and the final event of the season Bugsy Sprints on May 17th.

Lane lines and Sprint racing is only for the Spring Season for 4 Saturday events each year. We'll be sure to publish our 2026 schedule as soon as possible.

Elizabeth City Rowing Club and all the teams in our region who get to compete here are so grateful for community support!

Watch out for cyclists through this weekend 🚴‍♂️🚴‍♀️—whether you’re downtown or on surrounding roads in our region. Let’s keep everyone safe and share the road! ⚠️

Just a reminder that the Cycle NC Ride starts today. Cyclists will be on the roads in large groups all around Elizabeth City, Pasquotank County, Edenton, Camden, Perquimans, Currituck, and Gates Counties. Please be aware and safe. They ride Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
