A moment in rodeo history and a tradition that’s still going strong!

This photograph captures the King County Sheriff’s Posse making their grand entry at the Ellensburg Rodeo in 1978—five riders, flags raised, and a grandstand full of spectators behind them.

It’s a scene that feels just as powerful today as it did then.
The King County Sheriff’s Posse would go on to be inducted into the Ellensburg Rodeo Hall of Fame, recognized for their role in shaping the traditions that continue here year after year.

And in just a few months, it all happens again!!

Each Labor Day weekend, the Ellensburg Rodeo brings that same energy back to the arena: grand entry, packed stands, and a community coming together for something that’s been part of this place for generations! Who’s going?!
