It was a very active morning for wildlife in Superior National Forest, but not even the 3 moose I spotted can make me more excited than coming across the largest black bear I have seen. What a tank. A male spruce grouse standing guard on a foggy Superior National Forest back road. They are one of the most beautiful non migrating birds we have. They are so cool. Very dumb, but very cool. My 5th season guiding has now ended, and I have been busy booking 2026 dates. There are only a couple of September and October dates remaining. Today's Superior National U.S. Forest Service-Superior National Forest guided adventure was very memorable for my clients. They were able to experience a Canada Lynx for the 1st time. We spent about 10 minutes with this one right at sunrise. It was a great day. My 2025 season is complete, but I am booking for next year. Book early. Today's Superior National Forest wildlife and history guide trip was a lot of fun. I had some great repeat clients with. We didn't find and moose, but the spruce grouse were out in full force. This rooster was one of several we saw strutting around with a brood of hens.
