INCA International Nature and Cultural Adventures

INCA International Nature and Cultural Adventures Immersive small group and private luxury experiences in awe-inspiring destinations. Founded in 1976. A Bit of History
INCA (formerly Inca Floats, Inc.)

We have long been one of the leading companies offering small, intimate adventures because we hold ourselves (and our trips) to especially high standards of quality and safety. Wherever we travel we are downright fussy about our guides, itineraries, accommodations and transportation in order to give you the best possible experience. began in the 1970's as a family adventure when Bill Roberson, a s

cientist and professor, and his two daughters, Kim and Marika, traveled to Peru and the Galápagos Islands. They had such an adventurous, silly and educational time that they couldn't wait to share it with their friends. And so a company was born. In 1996 Inca Floats became INCA, International Nature & Cultural Adventures, to reflect our new adventures outside of South America. INCA is now more than the Roberson family supplying, guiding, and cooking as on our early treks. We have grown at home and abroad with dedicated, talented staff here in Emeryville and in each of our destinations. Along the way we have continued our devotion to making each trip enriching—as hassle-free and as comfortable as possible for each of our travelers—without sacrificing any of the adventure while doing it. Our Exclusive Associates
Providing trouble-free, enjoyable adventures requires constant attention to details where it counts—at the trip location. So we carefully select some of the most important people on your trip—our overseas partners, who work exclusively for INCA travelers. Our thoughtful and caring friends in Ecuador, Peru, Galápagos, and Turkey do it all—from getting roses for your sweetheart to tracking down missing luggage to finding a doctor. They're on call, 24 hours a day, just to take care of you. Adventure with a Conscience
We are proud to be one of the first adventure travel companies whose corporate mission statement expresses principles of ecotourism. We are committed to increasing the awareness of human responsibility toward the environment; to working with conservation organizations to protect the animals, plants and artifacts of the special places we visit; and to supporting the local economies by employing local associates who share our vision. As an INCA traveler you participate in sustainable pleasure in the wonders of our world.

A site four times the size of Machu Picchu has been sitting in the southern Peruvian Andes for centuries, and until very recently, almost no one knew what it was.

National Geographic and Alejandro Muñoz recently covered the story of T’aqrachullo, a dramatic clifftop mesa above the Apurímac River that archaeologists now believe could be Ancocagua, a near mythical Inca city described in colonial texts as one of the five most sacred temples in the entire empire.

Nearly 3,000 gold and silver sequins. A grand temple 2,000 years in the making. And a story that is only just beginning to be told.

What makes this discovery especially meaningful is that it is being led entirely by Peruvian researchers, returning a piece of Inca history to the people it belongs to.

Peru has a way of reminding you that its ancient past is not frozen behind glass. It lives in the landscape, in the communities, in the language still spoken today.

71% of our planet is ocean. 100% of us depend on it 🌊

World Ocean Day is a United Nations-recognized global observance held every June 8, a reminder that the ocean isn’t just a backdrop to life on Earth, it’s the engine of it. It produces more than half the oxygen we breathe, regulates our climate, and sustains billions of people through food and livelihoods.

This year’s focus is on the urgent need to protect and restore ocean ecosystems, from coral reefs to deep sea habitats, before irreversible damage is done.

The goal: protect 30% of the world’s ocean by 2030.

One tiny blue octopus, millions of admirers 🐙

Scientists have officially identified a new species in the Galápagos: Microeledone galapagensis, a tiny blue octopus discovered nearly 6,000 feet below the surface near Darwin Island.

Roughly the size of a golf ball, the octopus was first spotted during a deep sea expedition years ago. Researchers knew it was unusual, but it took further study to confirm it was an entirely new species.

Its striking blue color has captivated the internet, though scientists are still working to understand why it evolved this way in the dark depths of the Pacific.

The discovery highlights how much of the Galápagos marine environment remains unknown. While the islands are famous for their sea lions, giant tortoises, and marine iguanas, researchers continue to find species that have never been documented before.

For a place that helped shape our understanding of evolution, the Galápagos is still teaching us new things.

Barranco has long been Lima’s artistic quarter, and no one has shaped its identity quite like 🎨

Born in Peru and first drawn to graffiti at 14, Rivera has spent over two decades building a body of work that spans muralism, oil painting, watercolor, sculpture, and ceramics. His large-scale murals stretch across building facades and side streets throughout Barranco. These works are rooted in Peruvian culture yet open enough for anyone to find a connection. His museum sits steps from Hotel B, a restored 1914 Belle Époque mansion filled with 300+ works by Latin American artists, where many INCA guests stay.

Conservation in the Galápagos just entered a new era, and it is happening on Floreana Island.

Floreana just became the world’s first Smart Island, with a real-time monitoring system that tracks wildlife across the entire island using AI-enabled cameras, sensors, and live data dashboards. Think of it like a nervous system built across the island, when an animal moves through, a camera captures it, a pattern-recognition program identifies the species, and a ranger receives an alert on their phone instantly.

In just two months, the system reviewed over 81,000 images automatically, flagged 1,500 wildlife detections, and reduced manual conservation work by 98%.

This incredible initiative is led by in coordination with the Galápagos National Park Directorate, working tirelessly to ensure the wildlife that makes this place so special is protected for generations to come.
